Downtown Sounds is a new summer music series from the Beaverton Downtown Association that brings live music, community spirit, and local flavor to the heart of downtown Beaverton. This installment features energetic and entertaining performances by Joseph Konty at the 1st Street Dining Commons, a downtown gathering space. Admission is free. It offers an easy way to unwind after work, meet up with neighbors, or explore downtown while enjoying local music in a welcoming outdoor setting. The series continues throughout the summer at the 1st Street Dining Commons with a variety of local musicians that celebrates Beaverton’s creative community. About the artist, Joseph launched his music and art career in Eastern Oregon in 1998 and moved operations to Portland in 2002 with personal management from his parents. He has since built a substantial body of work across studio and live albums, singles, tours, and videos, collaborating with independent labels, managers, booking agencies, and distribution companies in the U.S. and overseas. His work includes engagements with a range of faith communities, and his primary markets include Portland and the surrounding metro area, the Pacific Northwest, and Denver.

A milestone gathering marks Camp Meriwether’s 100th anniversary with a wide range of classic camp adventures. Brushes & Blessings brings a colorful pop-up to the Annual Dahlia Festival’s 100th anniversary celebration, offering face painting and henna in the heart of breathtaking floral displays. Artist Alexandria Hardeman draws on a decade of professional face painting and eight years of henna experience, channeling high energy and heartfelt dedication to turn ideas into wearable art. She delights in realizing imaginative requests, whether it is a fierce dragon, a quirky hermit crab, or an intricate goat skull, pairing technical skill with a joyful approach to make each design unforgettable. The festival setting surrounds the experience with more than half a million dahlia plants spread across close to fifty acres, along with a showcase garden highlighting hundreds of distinct varieties. Explore unique gifts and locally made creations at the on-site mercantile, savor treats from food trucks, enjoy live music, and discover hands-on classes throughout the season. Parking and entry are free, and the vibrant grounds make a beautiful backdrop for photos.
