    LIve Music - Mojo Holler

Swan Island Dahlias, 995 NW 22nd Ave, Canby · verified Aug 30
    See details

Mojo Holler sets a rich, rootsy tone for a centennial celebration of dahlias, pairing live music with colorful fields, sweeping views, and tasty options from rotating food trucks. The band blends indie folk rock with influences that stretch from mountain country to the Mississippi Delta. Mister Baker brings expressive lap steel, slide, and dobro. Missi adds soulful Appalachian vocals and percussion on washboard, bongos, and cajon. Noted Northwest artist Randy Yearout joined in 2023 on bass and acoustic guitars, with occasional mandolin and banjo. Their catalog ranges from the acoustic reflection of ROOT to the narrative sweep of their debut, Where Black Ravens Flew. The project began as the duo Missi & Mister Baker and later earned an official South by Southwest showcase. Producer and Tape Op publisher Larry Crane has mixed their recordings since the early days and has praised their original Americana songs and the blend of Missi’s voice with Mister Baker’s deft fretwork. Coverage has highlighted their vivid backwoods imagery... boat queens, trains, juke joints, and church bells... delivered with care and nuance.
