Enjoy a free community shape-note singing gathering on South Side Bethlehem at Godfrey Daniels. The music centers on The Sacred Harp (1991) and sometimes The Shenandoah Harmony (2012), with tunebooks available to borrow or buy. This participatory tradition is resuming locally and welcomes everyone, with no prior singing experience required. The Sacred Harp, first published in 1844 in Georgia, anchors a long-standing American practice that blends familiar hymns such as Amazing Grace with early New England fuging tunes, arranged for four-part social singing in a distinctive notation.

Cedar Crest College’s Allen Center for Nutrition presents educational sessions focused on everyday healthy eating. Topics include nourishing sources of protein, how to make smart choices with dietary fats, why fiber is essential and practical ways to meet recommended amounts, and an introduction to processed foods using the Nova classification system. Hosted by the City of Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation and the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living, the focus is on accessibility, fun, and spending time together outdoors. Hosted by storyteller Charles Kiernan, it invites participants to share a tale or simply listen as others present personal narratives, traditional folklore, and experimental pieces. Conversation about the art of storytelling is part of the experience, and admission is free. Kiernan is known for telling classic fairy tales to audiences of all ages, often drawing on German, English, and Irish stories collected in the nineteenth century by the Brothers Grimm, Joseph Jacobs, and Andrew Lang. He is also a fantasy author of A Vacant Throne and Sword of Trueterra and writes the blogs Fairy Tale of the Month and Writer's Journey.
