The 33rd annual celebration of local heritage unfolds at McConnells Mill State Park, centered around the Kildoo Picnic Area and the historic gristmill. With sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect, the festival highlights the years 1852 to 1928, when the mill used the force of Slippery Rock Creek to grind grain for bread. Visitors can step inside the mill to see original machinery, explore a Civil War encampment, take part in demonstrations of arts and crafts, and listen to live music. Regional artists and makers share their craft and offer handmade goods for purchase. Family friendly activities help connect all ages with the history of the site. Admission and parking are free.

A pet centered festival at Grove City Agway brings together activities, treats, music, and local animal organizations. Blues-soaked originals and rootsy Americana power this set from the Jimmy Adler Band at Big Rail Stage. Led by Pittsburgh guitarist and vocalist Jimmy Adler, a fixture of the local scene since the late 1980s, the group offers spirited playing, strong vocals, and the elegant phrasing of his clean, full guitar tone. Adler has supported many singers and steered Blue Monday sessions at Wolfie's in Market Square, then kept the series going for 17 straight months at the Bridge Music Bar in East Liberty. His performances have reached audiences from the West Coast to France. Expect mostly original material shaped by American roots traditions, delivered with energy and professionalism. Adler has released five albums, including Grease Alley, recorded and produced by Kid Andersen, a Blues Music Award winner, at Greaseland Studio in San Jose, California.
