All proceeds benefit Bigger Than Sports, a nonprofit empowering PPS student-athletes through mentorship, education, and resources to succeed beyond the game. This event is rain or shine, and registration fees range from $30 to $40.

Shelagh Sings Live brings music to the Swissvale Farmers Market, performing in the parking lot of Community Living and Support Services. This live set adds a warm musical backdrop to the market experience.

A community cornhole tournament in West Mifflin supports WMYAA and West Mifflin Youth Baseball & Softball. Teams consist of two players with a $60 entry per team. The event features food and music along with basket raffles and a 50/50, all focused on uplifting local youth sports.

Level Red Boxing presents a free outdoor circuit workout at Sally’s Path, featuring a fast-paced, boxing-inspired routine that is high energy, high intensity, and fun. No prior experience or equipment is required. If you have gloves and wraps you can bring them, and basic gear will be available as needed. All that is needed is your body and a smile. After the workout, there is time to meet the coaches and connect with the Level Red community, followed by a discounted brunch option at City Kitchen. Registration is free through the Level Red Boxing app. Create an account, locate the class on the calendar, and schedule it. Level Red Boxing focuses on boxing conditioning, blending kettlebells, medicine balls, cardio, core, and boxing to build lean muscle, improve endurance, and burn calories round after round. The emphasis is on motivation and strength at every level, welcoming all fitness backgrounds.

Spend time by the water with Fishburgh at Lake Carnegie in Highland Park. This family-friendly fishing experience welcomes beginners, young anglers, and anyone looking to learn in a relaxed, supportive setting. Participants will practice casting, learn to bait a hook, identify local fish, handle catches safely, and discover simple ways to care for Pittsburgh’s waterways. All fishing gear and bait are provided, and registered participants do not need a fishing license for this event. Instruction is led by Phillip Papa, founder of Fishburgh Outdoors and a Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission certified Fishing Skills Instructor. Please obtain a ticket for each participant so planning for equipment, supplies, and volunteers can be properly arranged.

Headstone Salon and Gallery marks its first year with a community celebration featuring a free clothing table at the front and a yard sale set up in the back parking lot. The day includes flash tattoos, piercings, and specials on hair styling, along with a fundraiser raffle benefiting the Autonomous Bodyshop. A clothing swap is part of the event. Donations can be dropped off in advance, and calling ahead is recommended to ensure someone is available. On the day, attendees can bring a bag to fill or bring a bag to empty. Please donate only freshly laundered items that you would feel comfortable gifting to a friend.

Poetry Lounge hosts an end of summer celebration featuring performances by Right On Warriors, Saturn Rise, and New Kink. All three bands take the stage for a night of live music. Admission is $10.

Trafford Estate and FriendlySpinach present a Pittsburgh gathering that pairs a creative coding workshop with a live music show. The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to building projection visuals led by visual installation artist FriendlySpinach (Yoni Maltsman). Participants explore the Hydra Video Synth and learn techniques for using circuit bent video converters and analog video mixers. A laptop is required, and one can be provided if arranged during pre-registration. The workshop takes place at the BGC Activity Center. Afterward, The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination hosts a performance featuring Nowhere Wolves, Barbados Black, Superswell (NY), and Shrub. With guidance from FriendlySpinach and Fluxophile, workshop attendees will be invited during the show to create and manipulate live visuals inspired by the music.

Morgan Wade appears at Mr. Smalls Theatre, joined by special guest Thomas Edwards. The show is open to all ages. Tickets are emailed seven days before the event.

At Ruckus Café, this tabletop gathering welcomes newcomers and seasoned players alike. A variety of games will be available, including modern favorites like Ticket to Ride and Wingspan alongside engaging titles such as Mice & Mystics and Rolling Heights, and attendees are welcome to bring their own favorites to share. The café menu of coffee drinks and fresh-made food will be available throughout, and outside food or beverages are not permitted. Participants may attend with friends or on their own and connect with a friendly community of game lovers.

This Creative Happening is presented in two segments. Vanka educator Maggie Negrete leads a guided exploration of the flowers portrayed in the Murals, highlighting the symbolism Maxo Vanka embedded in each bloom. The experience then moves into a hands-on Tatakizome workshop with local fiber artist and gardener Amy Garbark, a fabric-printing approach that captures the fine textures and bright hues of flowers. Participants create a printed bag and depart with their own finished piece.

A movie night marketplace at Bakery Square will run alongside an outdoor screening of Twilight, bringing a spooky theme to the evening. Local small businesses, vintage collectors, and artists will be on hand with a variety of goods, and the market continues through the end of the film. The atmosphere is family friendly and dog friendly. Amenities include indoor restrooms, nearby shopping and dining, and plentiful garage and street parking. Vendor applications are handled only through the organizer’s website, and comments are not used to solicit vendors.

A poetry open mic featuring local poets. Hosted by poet and friend of Ruckus, Mike Frachioni. The cafe and coffee bar will be open. This is a free event, and advance sign up is requested.
