Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough, Solo Exhibition by Louise Silk
A solo exhibition from Pittsburgh fiber artist Louise Silk presents a career capstone of entirely new work shown together for the first time. The presentation gathers hand-sewn pieces like art and scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, created from repurposed textiles sourced from her own studio remnants as well as found materials. The project reflects Silk’s spiritual practice, weaving themes from Judaism and Zen Buddhism into expressions of gratitude inspired by the Passover Seder song Dayenu. Each quilt serves as a thank you, honoring life’s gifts through pattern, color, and cloth. Silk has been making art quilts for more than five decades, has exhibited across the United States, and has presented seven solo shows, including a major retrospective at the Heinz History Center. She lives and works in the South Side and was featured in Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Silk has made art quilts for more than fifty years, has exhibited nationwide, and has presented seven solo exhibitions, including the 2024 survey Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life at the Heinz History Center. She lives and works in the South Side and was recently featured in Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side. The exhibition will be on view with expanded regular gallery hours on Wednesdays through Saturdays, and the gallery will also be available by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays.

He is spending a full year sourcing every bite and remedy from the wild, skipping grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and even a home garden, and he is traveling to share how to live more closely connected with Earth while strengthening the foraging community. During this walk you will learn to identify more than ten common edible and medicinal plants in the area, how to forage safely, how to harvest in ways that care for the plants, and simple strategies for successful foraging. The experience is designed for all levels, with less than a half mile of total walking and no more than ten minutes from the starting point. A suggested donation of $10 to $40 supports the nonprofit Regeneration, Equity and Justice, and scholarships are available so cost is not a barrier.

Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough is a solo exhibition by Pittsburgh fiber artist Louise Silk, bringing together a completely new collection of hand-sewn work in one cohesive presentation following her major 2024 retrospective at the Heinz History Center. Crafted from repurposed materials drawn from both her own remnants and found textiles, the pieces include art and scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows that stitch personal memories and moments into visual narratives. The exhibition draws on Silk’s spiritual practice, interweaving themes from Judaism and Zen Buddhism. Its title references the Passover Seder song Dayenu, and each quilt serves as an expression of gratitude. Silk has created art quilts for more than five decades, has shown her work across the United States, and has presented seven solo exhibitions, including Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life in 2024. She lives and works in the South Side and was recently featured in Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Hand-stitched pieces fill the space, from art and scrap quilts to flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, all created from reclaimed fabrics. Blending remnants from her own studio with found materials, Silk stitches memories and moments into a cohesive visual narrative of her life. The work reflects her spiritual practice, drawing on themes from Judaism and Zen Buddhism. The title, drawn from the Passover Seder song Dayenu, centers gratitude, and each quilt conveys that spirit of thanks. With more than fifty years devoted to art quilts, Silk has exhibited nationwide and has presented seven solo shows, including Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life at the Heinz History Center in 2024. She lives and works in the South Side and was recently featured in Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side. Teams of explorers take on a mission aboard the USS Requin as a mysterious presence stirs on the Ohio River. Working together, participants solve puzzles and track down clues throughout the submarine in a new installment of the escape room series. Full mobility is required for this experience. The program is intended for adults and for youth ages 13 and older who are accompanied by an adult, and young children are not permitted on board during Escape Rooms. Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough is a solo exhibition by Pittsburgh fiber artist Louise Silk that brings together an all-new body of work presented as a cohesive whole for the first time. Hand sewn pieces made from repurposed textiles appear as art quilts, scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows. Working with both her own remnants and found materials, Silk uses fabric to interweave personal memories and shared histories into layered visual stories. The exhibition centers on the artist’s spiritual life, drawing from Jewish tradition and Zen Buddhist practice. Taking its name from the Passover song Dayenu, the show emphasizes gratitude, with each quilt serving as a gesture of thanks. Building on a major retrospective at the Heinz History Center, this presentation reads as a culminating chapter in a practice spanning more than five decades. Silk has exhibited across the United States, has presented seven solo shows including Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life, and was featured in Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side. She lives and works in the South Side.

Chicago’s [melter] channels roaring drums, tactile samples, buzzing synths, and distorted bass beneath Jax Allos’s intense vocals for a darkwave-leaning, industrial surge that feels built for high-speed nights. From Cleveland, Arms & Armour, the duo of Lauren Voss and John Panza, layers live recording, looping, industrial textures, powerful vocals, swirling synths, and heavy guitar into a hypnotic, blues-tinged sludge, with a new album expected in summer 2026. Pittsburgh artist bella figlia, also known as Elizabeth Joan Harris, shapes piano, guitar, field recordings, and a classically trained voice into a practice that seeks the sacred within the everyday, transforming heartache through sound. The result is a focused showcase where texture, atmosphere, and melody take center stage.

Hellbender Vinyl and Crafted Sounds present an all ages night at The Funhouse at Mr. Smalls featuring Silver Car Crash, Philadelphia’s A Country Western, and Sweet Tooth from West Virginia. Silver Car Crash brings a loud, guitar-driven brand of post-punk rooted in Pittsburgh’s DIY scene, blending garage rock, hardcore, country, avant-garde, and no wave into jagged, hypnotic songs with interlocking guitars and a mix of shouted and understated vocals. They have shared bills with Ought, Toner, and Stuck, and followed their debut Resource Body with Shattered Shine, tracked at Mr. Smalls Studio with Nate Campisi, capturing a sharper sound while keeping their punk spirit intact. A Country Western formed in 2017 when multi-instrumentalists Derek Hengemihle and Garrett Miades began writing together, later joined by Erik Hilbert and Paris Parker for live shows and studio work. After reissuing their self-titled release and the EP Phenom through Crafted Sounds in 2023, they expanded their palette on Life on the Lawn in 2024, pairing heavier guitars and playful feedback with spacious moments and clear vocals. Their lyrics consider subjects like environmental damage, capitalism, life in a hyper-digital world, self-realization, loss, and even birds. Between albums they released the double single Four-Team Dream Machine with slowcore and electronic touches, and a new record is on the way in 2026. Sweet Tooth began in the hills of West Virginia and now resides in Richmond, crafting shoegaze shaped by small town atmosphere and uncertainty. The five-piece includes vocalist and guitarist Maya Deal with guitarists Zack Halsey and Josh White, bassist Sam Harbin, and drummer Jacob Noska. After debuting with the 2022 single Turning Green, they delivered their 2025 album Guppy, a blend of airy guitars, melodic vocals, and a driving backbeat.

Pittsburgh's original taco festival returns with a celebration of tacos, culture, and community. A wide range of Latin American food vendors curated by the Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation will be serving up flavors from across the region, and full bars will be available. Enjoy live Latin music, beginner friendly salsa lessons, and plenty of family activities such as face painting, roaming entertainers, and games. Browse an artist marketplace with live painting and handmade goods, and connect with local nonprofits and community groups sharing helpful resources. The festival takes place rain or shine. General admission is $5 and VIP is $39. Children age 3 and under enter free. Tickets do not include free tacos, there are no ticket refunds, and dogs are not allowed. The Pennsylvania Game Hunters Alliance presents Wingshooter Warmup, a community trap shoot that supports PGHA’s mission of strengthening Pennsylvania’s hunting heritage through education, mentorship, conservation, youth outreach, and safe participation in the hunting and shooting sports. Shooters of every experience level are welcome, along with local sportsmen and women, outdoor supporters, families, sponsors, and community members for a day on the range with purpose and camaraderie. The main competition features teams of four, organized by ability, with combined scores determining both team and individual awards. After the primary round, an optional Annie Oakley style elimination shoot offers a chance at bragging rights for the year. Children under 12 may attend as spectators at no cost, and there will be activities suited for kids on site. Team spots are limited, and sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses, organizations, and individuals who want to help sustain Pennsylvania’s outdoor traditions. The Women Who Rock benefit concert, presented by Gibson Gives, brings a powerhouse celebration of women in music to Stage AE in Pittsburgh while supporting life saving advances in women’s health. Taylor Dayne, a global pop icon and cancer survivor, headlines a fully female-fronted bill that also features Malina Moye, The Vindys, DJ Formosa, the 2026 Women Who Rock Rising Star Contest winner, and additional special guests. Kelly Dzanaj of 100.7 Star will host the evening. Proceeds benefit Magee-Womens Research Institute, the nation’s first and largest research institute dedicated to women’s health, and every ticket helps drive breakthrough discoveries for a healthier future. The night includes signature experiences such as the Pink Carpet hosted by Natalie Bencivenga, the Women Who Rock Beauty Bar, a pop-up shop with limited edition concert merchandise, a VIP happy hour and lounge, an interactive photo booth, a rockstar silent auction, signature cocktails, the Women Who Rock Impact Award, and Survivors Who Rock presented by UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital with a special performance of “Fight Like a Girl” by Kalie Shorr.
