Aristotle Jones

Aristotle Jones, nicknamed the Appalachian Soul Man, shares a powerful musical story shaped by his roots in West Virginia’s coal country. His sound blends mountain-tinged doo-wop, smooth harmonies, warm acoustic textures, and R&B, with echoes of Motown, gospel choirs, and funk giving his Americana a distinctive edge. He brings that spirit to the SummerSounds stage. Known for vivid, detail-rich storytelling, this singer-songwriter delivers heartfelt narratives with a warm, resonant voice that traces the landscapes and communities that formed him. His songs show that West Virginia’s music stretches far beyond bluegrass, country, and old-time banjo traditions. Backed by a six-piece band, he delves into themes of family and heritage, honoring the resilience of people who have faced poverty, segregation, and the fight for civil rights, finding wholeness through love and music. His work is grounded in who he is, as essential as the air he breathes.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM OFF-LEASH DOGS: PREVENTION, DEFENSE & REAL-WORLD SKILLS

Encounters with off-leash dogs can be unsettling, and many people only discover what to do in the moment. This hands-on, two-hour workshop provides a safe place to build prevention and response skills before they are ever needed. Training covers how to read canine body language and spot early warnings, what actions to take when an unfamiliar dog comes toward you or your dog, safe ways to interrupt and separate dogs that are fighting, and how to respond if a person is attacked. Instructors also focus on staying calm and making sound decisions when adrenaline is high. Proper pepper spray use is taught with practice, and controlled demonstrations with Paul Anthony's Champion Demo Dogs show the pressure and power of a canine bite. The emphasis is on preparation and practical know-how, not fear. Participants leave with a better understanding of dog behavior and greater confidence navigating challenging situations. This session welcomes anyone interested in personal safety and canine behavior. It is suitable for dog owners, walkers, runners, cyclists, parents, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to feel more prepared. Owning a dog is not required. Important details: No dogs are permitted at the workshop, with service-dog exceptions considered by the host. Attendees must be 18 or older and minors are not allowed. Please bring a lawn chair or other portable seating. Registration is required and space is limited. The fee is 60 dollars per person and payment in advance is needed to hold a place. Pack Walk- Leash Work

Enjoy a new outdoor leash walking class at Oak Hollow Park in Irwin that blends a relaxed trail outing with focused training. Designed for friendly, non-reactive dogs that are comfortable around others, this pack walk highlights proper leash handling, engagement with the handler, and solid walking fundamentals while working around real-world distractions. Professional dog trainers lead the session and include a brief, structured meet and greet at the start and finish for small groups of up to four dogs at a time, so participants must be well socialized. The cost is $15 per dog, and attendance is limited to ten dogs. Bring your dog, waste bags, and a water bowl; there is a spigot at the park, and treats or a favorite toy are optional. If storms are expected, the class will be canceled with several hours of notice, and training continues in light rain.

Pack Walk- Leash Work

Youngwood Top Dog Services is offering a new outdoor leash walking class at Oak Hollow Park in Irwin. This training-focused walk is led by professional dog trainers and is designed for friendly, non reactive dogs that are comfortable around other dogs. Because there is a brief, structured meet and greet at the start and end for up to four dogs at a time, participating dogs should be well socialized. The session emphasizes proper leash handling, keeping your dog engaged with you, building solid leash walking foundations, and working around everyday distractions in a real park setting. The cost is $15 per dog and enrollment is limited to 10 dogs, with spots held for the first 10 to sign up. Bring your dog, poop bags, and a water bowl. Treats or a favorite toy are optional, and there is a water spigot at the park. If storms are expected, the class will be canceled with at least three hours’ notice, while light rain does not interrupt training. Dogs that are reactive to other dogs or fearful of strangers should look to the Socialization Trail Classes instead.

Michael Jackson Tribute Show w/ Danny Dash World's #1 Impersonator

Experience a high energy celebration of Michael Jackson’s music and showmanship led by Danny Dash Andrews, widely billed as the world’s top requested MJ impersonator. The set showcases hits like Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Thriller, Beat It and more, with choreography that closely mirrors the King of Pop’s signature moves. Andrews has toured internationally performing as Michael Jackson, appeared across television and film, was featured on America’s Got Talent season 8, performed live with Lady Gaga, and appeared on a national talk show with LaToya Jackson. Due to limited space and an anticipated large crowd, plan for standing room with only a small number of bar stools and very limited pub tables, plus a wall bar shelf. Some seating is available at the Area 51 Bar and in the VIP Balcony on the Main St side of the venue, offered first come and simulcast to large TV screens with sound. Tickets often sell out, and the organizer recommends purchasing online in advance. Online ticket entry is first come, first served, and any tickets sold at the door on the day of the show are not guaranteed if capacity has been reached. The venue is nonsmoking and does not allow vaping, with a designated smoking area outside. Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted inside.
