Easton · State Theatre Center for the Arts, 453 Northampton St

Whether you are feeling stuck or hitting your stride, this immersive, in-person creative writing workshop offers a focused space to push a new idea forward. Designed for experienced writers, the program unfolds over four sessions with a strong emphasis on dedicated writing time, community building, and knowledge sharing. Participation is capped at 15 writers and is application-based rather than ticketed. Two sessions include guest speakers, with one exploring the connection between mental health and creativity and another offering concrete guidance on next steps toward publishing or production. In two additional sessions, two actors provide private reading opportunities so authors can hear their work aloud and refine it with fresh insight. Applicants are asked to submit 10 to 15 pages, a synopsis and character outline of a completed work, a one page artist bio, and a concept or outline for the piece they plan to develop in the series. Amy Speace takes the stage at Godfrey Daniels for an evening steeped in storytelling and finely crafted songs rooted in contemporary Folk and Americana. Speace earned AMA UK’s International Song of the Year, and her release The American Dream reached number one, with its title track topping the FAI Radio Charts in its first month. Beyond performing, she writes and teaches, with a debut poetry collection titled The Cardinals from Red Hen Press, a singer songwriter’s handbook drawn from two decades of coaching, and university work in English and writing.
