    Grief Support Group

Bloomsburg Public Library, 225 Market St, Bloomsburg · verified Sep 20
    Free

This free weekly support group is facilitated by Emily Kahn, MSW, who offers companionship, compassion, and a sense of community for people navigating grief. As a member of the Bloomsburg Public Library social work staff, Emily brings years of experience supporting individuals and families through end-of-life concerns. She works to make conversations about death and dying more approachable. Sessions include bibliotherapy, using books and stories to support mental well-being. Grief, including anticipatory grief, is deeply personal, yet sharing with others can ease the burden. The emotional terrain of bereavement can shift unexpectedly and may feel confusing, surprising, or isolating. Practical matters often arise too, such as handling finances, wills, and death certificates, which can feel overwhelming but are familiar to many who have faced similar losses. This program is secular, and people of any faith or none are welcome to speak from their own experience. Strict confidentiality is required, and conversations remain within the group. For one-on-one appointments with Emily, email emily@bloomsburgpl.org or call 570-784-0883.
