Set in the Burlingame State Park Picnic Area, this trail race offers 4-mile and 8-mile options on mostly dirt paths with some dirt and asphalt road sections. To ease the flow into the woods, both distances begin with a brief road segment before splitting. The 8-mile route turns onto singletrack that circles Watchaug Pond counterclockwise and returns to the picnic area finish. The 4-mile route continues ahead, then branches onto trails through the DEM-owned Kimball Preserve, loops through the Burlingame State Park campground, and heads back to the shared start and finish. Parking is available in the DEM picnic area lot, and registration takes place inside the cabin. Each participant and volunteer must wear at least 200 square inches of orange, and anyone not wearing orange will not be allowed to race per State of Rhode Island DEM mandate. Walkers are welcome, though in consideration of volunteers they are asked to choose the 4-mile course. The 8-mile course has a cutoff, and beyond that point support, official timing, and post-race amenities are not guaranteed. After the finish, participants are served hot soup, food, and cider. Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. Entry fees are available at three levels: pre-registration at $30 for adults and $25 for ages 18 and under, post-registration at $37 for adults and $32 for ages 18 and under, and race day at $42 for adults and $37 for ages 18 and under. Pre-registered WTAC members receive a $5 discount, and Mohegan Striders receive a $2 discount.
