Part of the long-running Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series, this race at James Island County Park combines a 600-yard freshwater swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a flat 5K run. The swim begins with a wading start, with Charleston County Parks Emergency Services stationed on the water and along the shoreline. The bike course travels both inside the park and on nearby city roads, and the run uses two loops within the park on paved trails and roads. Law enforcement officers will staff the on-road sections for safety, and emergency personnel will also be positioned along the lake bank.
