Set at James Island County Park, this installment of the four-race Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series delivers a true sprint challenge with a 600 yard freshwater swim, a 12 mile bike ride, and a fast, flat 5K run. More than 30,000 athletes have taken part over the years, and the series has been recognized by the Charleston Metro Sports Council among Charleston’s top ten signature sporting events. Registration is $70 per race and closes the Wednesday prior, with no race day registration offered. Competitors should be comfortable with a 600 meter open water swim and with riding a bicycle on roads open to traffic. The start is organized in waves, and on-site packet pickup is available on race morning. Athletes are encouraged to bring prefilled water bottles, with hydration stations placed on the course. Bibs are required, body marking is not provided, and lost bib penalties apply. Bringing tools for basic bike repairs is recommended. Each participant receives one T-shirt for the series, and an awards ceremony will take place on-site after the finish. The course begins with a wading start for the swim, supported by emergency personnel on the water and along the shoreline. The bike segment travels both inside the park and on city roads, and the run features two paved loops within the park. Safety support includes officers on on-road sections and park emergency services positioned along the lake bank and throughout the venue. The race welcomes athletes of all experience levels and offers accessible parking as well as an accessible portable restroom. This race features the Tri Club Team Competition. Clubs may enter one team with a minimum of five members, and all team members must be registered for this race. Awards include Fastest Team, determined by the average finish time of all team members, and Most Mugs, based on the total number of mugs earned across placements, age groups, and categories. A separate youth triathlon provides young athletes with a chance to participate on a closely supervised course.

Part of a season of Cast Off Fishing Tournaments at the Mount Pleasant Pier and the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, this Mount Pleasant edition is presented by Charleston Cotton Exchange. Anglers of all experience levels can compete for awards that recognize the three heaviest individual fish by weight, the biggest youth catch for ages 12 and under, and the best total weight for five fish. Each participant is eligible to win only one category, and anyone 15 and under must have an adult chaperone. On-site registration opens the morning of the tournament. Fees are $12 for ages 13 and up, $9 for members of the military, $9 for seniors 60 and older, $9 for youth 12 and under, and $5 for fishing pass members. The venue does not have an elevator, so keep that in mind when considering balcony sections F through J. The Charleston Music Hall operates cashless and accepts credit and debit cards at the box office and bar. Bags up to 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches are permitted and will be inspected at entry, with allowances for necessary medical equipment and nursing mothers. Multiple presales are offered, along with VIP package options, followed by a general public onsale.

Cast Off Fishing Tournaments bring anglers to the Mount Pleasant Pier and the Folly Beach Fishing Pier for a season of friendly competition, presented by Charleston Cotton Exchange. This event features prizes for several categories, including the biggest three fish by weight, the top youth catch for ages 12 and under, and the best five fish based on total weight. Each participant is eligible to win only one category, and anglers ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Registration takes place on-site. The fee is $12 for ages 13 and up, $9 for members of the military, $9 for seniors 60 and older, $9 for youth 12 and under, and $5 for fishing pass members. Both piers provide rental gear, tackle and frozen bait, and staff who can share tips. Amenities include snack bars, gift shops, and restrooms. Events proceed regardless of weather. Parking is available for a fee at the Folly Beach Pier, and parking at the Mount Pleasant Pier is free but limited. Anglers of every experience level are welcome to enjoy some friendly competition. The Polo Run Community Craft Fair at the Polo Run Amenity Center is seeking vendors who make jewelry, art, boutique items, clothing, and seasonal décor. It offers a welcoming setting to showcase creativity, grow a small business, and connect with neighbors. Vendor spaces are about 10 feet, the fee is $10 per table, and participants bring their own tables and displays. Space is limited. A past fair welcomed hundreds of visitors from surrounding areas.
