TShawStrong 5k to Beat ALS offers runners and fitness enthusiasts a fast, flat course in Maryland Farms that is well suited for personal records. Taking place at Andrews Cadillac, the event features awards for the top three overall men and women, plus top male and female finishers in age groups 18 and under, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and older. Young athletes can take part in a 1k, with prizes for the top three in ages 6 and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. Those who register by the early cutoff receive a complimentary T-shirt. Participation supports ALS charities.

A curated farmers market brings local farmers and vendors together at the Factory at Franklin. Set beneath the Water Tower Plaza by the front entrance, it offers a welcoming place to explore and shop from a variety of community offerings in one convenient spot.

Get up close with baby goats at a working goat dairy. Meet goats, cows, chickens, and pigs as you explore the farm and enjoy the open surroundings. Learn about the animals and how the dairy operates, then taste a sample of fresh goat cheese. A guided tour of the farm is offered. Admission is $12 per person, and children ages 2 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available on the website.
