Hyden Beach hosts a coed quads volleyball tournament with A and BB divisions, open to adults and juniors. Teams compete with two girls and two boys, and if a roster has only three players then at least one must be a girl. Celebrate the season with a scenic cruise as the group departs from Publix Harpeth Village in Fieldstone Farms and winds its way to the Natchez Trace. The route heads along Fieldstone Parkway across Hillsboro Road to Cotton Lane, continues south to Del Rio Pike, then turns west to Old Hillsboro Road on Highway 46. To help the caravan stay together, a vehicle may briefly manage traffic at key turns. The drive follows Highway 46 south through Leiper’s Fork, then resumes on 46 with a right turn, passes a fire station, and reaches the Trace entrance about half a mile later. After entering, the caravan turns right to travel south on the Trace. Planned pauses include rest breaks at Garrison Creek, Gordon House, and the Collinwood Welcome Center, where coffee, cookies, and memorabilia are available. Lunch is planned at The Bridges Resort, Alpine restaurant. After signing a waiver, participants can explore the grounds, featuring two water and wind formed natural land bridges, a stream beside the restaurant, and an Ice Cave that remains around 58 degrees year round. An optional extension to Shiloh National Park is available from The Bridges in roughly 50 minutes, with nearby Indian mounds to explore. Drivers traveling from Rocket City or from Columbia can meet the caravan at Gordon House near Highway 50 or at Meriwether Lewis Park near Highway 20.

Take an easy hike at Yanahli Park in Maury County while exploring the history of Native communities who once lived along the Duck River and the ways the surrounding environment supported daily life. The outing also delves into the park’s name and its Chickasaw origin, with Yanahli expressing the idea of flowing through. Expect a route of approximately 1 to 2 miles that takes about 1 to 2 hours. Meet at the trailhead. This program is free, and advance registration is requested.
