Steele Creek Struggle Half Marathon Trail Race unfolds on the wild trails of Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee, offering a backcountry challenge for runners who love technical terrain and real mountain grit. The course covers 13.1 miles with more than 2,000 feet of climbing on narrow singletrack filled with roots and rocks, steep ascents, lively creek crossings, and quick descents. Expect ridge running, tight switchbacks, and rugged forest paths that wind through thick Appalachian woods, with each mile presenting a fresh test and a new reason to appreciate trail running. Wildlife sightings are part of the experience, with the possibility of spotting white-tailed deer and wild turkey, and perhaps even a bear in the distance, although the animals will not be racing. This is a tough, rewarding route for those who want a true mountain-style half marathon.

JAM Kids brings weekly small-group music instruction to the Learning Center at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum through a new partnership with Junior Appalachian Musicians. Designed for children in grades 4-8 and beyond, these year-round classes explore traditional Appalachian sounds on acoustic instruments such as guitar, banjo, and fiddle. Students may bring their own instruments, and loaners can be provided for the length of a child’s participation. Instructors may add other instruments as the program develops, and new students are welcome to begin at any time. Registration is required. Weekly enrollment is first come, first served and limited to 30 students, so registration confirms eligibility but does not secure a spot for a particular session. Families may complete the registration form in advance or fill it out at the museum’s front desk upon arrival. The cost is $5 per class or $45 for a package of 10 lessons.

A community clothing closet is offering free support for neighbors across the city and nearby communities. Families and individuals in need can find clothes and shoes, with the opportunity to fill a bag at no cost. The focus is on serving others and helping the region through care and kindness.

Debuting in Bristol, this two day Slammedenuff car show takes over Bristol Motor Speedway with an upperclassmen showcase centered on the oval. Approved entrants are organized into award categories based on the final roster. If a vehicle does not have a dedicated model class, it will compete within its make and remain eligible for specialty honors.
