Groundwork That Changes Everything - Six Week Series with Joe Washburn
For riders who love their horses but face tense moments on the ground, this six-part clinic series focuses on the foundation that makes everyday handling calm and consistent. JW Horsemanship & Services launches its first clinic series at a new facility with trainer Joe Washburn, who brings nearly twenty years of experience helping small groups of horse and handler pairs master fundamental groundwork. Each session targets practical skills that carry over to real-life situations like catching in the pasture, leading without crowding or grazing battles, and stepping into the trailer without drama. Participants may attend a single class to assess a horse’s demeanor, strengthen the relationship, or fine-tune a specific technique, or commit to the full series to build skills week by week while learning alongside peers. The curriculum develops clear communication on the ground, confidence in methods that earn respect, and a genuine understanding of equine behavior. A limited number of horses are available to rent for a small fee for those without a mount or transportation. Horses two years and older and handlers of all ages and skill levels are welcome, with the focus tailored to people who have some experience and want to close gaps in their horsemanship. Stallions are not included in this group format, with private arrangements available at an owner’s facility. A current negative Coggins is required before attending, and enrollment is capped to keep instruction personal. Sessions are held in shaded areas so training wraps up before the hottest part of the day. Pricing is 125 dollars per session, or 625 dollars for all six when prepaid, which equals the cost of five sessions. This series offers a structured path to smoother, drama-free rides and preparation for trail or competition goals later in the year.
