Her mentors include Robert Lyons, Chair of the Photography Program at the University of Hartford, and Teresa Christensen, Chair of Photography at PNCA and a former documentation photographer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Her work has appeared in Juxtapoze, Boom Magazine, Art Review, and ArtsyScoop Magazine, and she brings this fine art pedagogy and publishing experience to Fort Worth Camera to cultivate a community grounded in critique. Guest critic Chris Ireland is the Executive Director of the Texas Photographic Society, an exhibiting artist and educator with a BFA in Photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA in Digital Media from Washington State University. His research centers on representations of family and personal experience through the vernacular of photography, and his work has been shown at the Center of Contemporary Art in Seattle, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, Filter Photo Space in Chicago, Umbrella Arts Gallery in New York, the San Antonio Public Library, and the Houston Center for Photography. He lives and works in the Fort Worth area and previously served as the founding head of the Department of Visual Arts and Design at Tarleton State University. Participants can expect a focused session with eight artists plus the two facilitators, with approximately 12 minutes per person devoted to feedback on a chosen area such as process, project development, lighting, or post production and editing. Attendees will also offer constructive insights on one another’s photographs, building community around respectful, honest critique with the shared goal of growing as artists and photographers. After registration, participants will be contacted to submit one photograph for review. Light bites and refreshments will be provided.
