LP Kelly and the Trash Pickers bring decades of Old Time tradition to Market Square Jam at Market Square Park. A fixture in Blacksburg’s Old Time community for more than two decades, the group has deep ties to the Blacksburg Square Dance and a range of local string bands. The lineup features LP Kelly and Bob Browder covering fiddle and guitar, Jen Barton on banjo, and Chris Printz on bass. Their set draws from cornerstone Southwest Virginia tunes alongside selections gathered from beyond the region. Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is an official Crooked Road affiliated venue that celebrates traditional Old Time music. It brings musicians together to share tunes and provides a welcoming setting for friends and family in the heart of downtown Blacksburg.

In the waning days of summer, four-time Grammy nominee Cedric Watson brings an uplifting performance to the lawn outside the center with Bijou Creole. The South Louisiana fiddler, accordionist, and songwriter highlights Cajun and Creole music shaped by African, Native American, French, and Spanish heritage. The set travels from age-old contra dance tunes to contemporary Zydeco grooves, with flashes of bluegrass fiddle woven in. Soulful rhythms, rich melodies, and a breezy open-air atmosphere encourage dancing and help kick off the new season.

Virginia Hollow performs at Christiansburg Library during the library’s 40th Anniversary party. Special guest Chris Burgoyne will be filling in on bass for this set at Christiansburg Library, part of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library System.
