    Katie Pruitt

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Sep 27
    See details

An all-ages performance featuring Katie Pruitt, the Georgia-raised singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for thoughtful songs about identity, self-acceptance, and the courage of living honestly. Her debut album Expectations earned widespread praise and an Emerging Artist of the Year nomination from the Americana Music Association. With her newest release, Fools for the Fleeting, the Nashville-based artist reflects on impermanence, ecological concern, the delicate nature of love, and the isolation that can accompany an increasingly digital world. Conceived as music rooted to the earth, it treats nature as a lens for inner life and leans into a purposeful Americana and indie-rock sound built on acoustic textures and the unpolished energy of live performance. The album includes contributions from guitarist Juan Solorzano, known for work with Ruston Kelly and Parker Millsap, and drummer Aksel Coe, who has performed with Ella Langley and Sierra Ferrell. As her third full-length and the follow-up to 2024’s Mantras, it highlights a warm, soulful voice and a perspective that centers transience, grief, connection as survival, and the change that comes with presence and surrender.

    Briscoe

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Sep 27
    See details

Briscoe takes the stage as a Texas-bred duo whose tight harmonies and vivid storytelling were shaped by long stretches on the highway and the landscapes that rolled past the windshield. After releasing West Of It All while finishing school at UT Austin, Philip Lupton and Truett Heintzelman hit the road and refined a blend of folk and rock that pairs road-worn momentum with reflections on family and home. Their second album, Heat of July, created with Grammy-nominated producer Brad Cook, broadens the sound with richer arrangements and contributions from notable collaborators, drawing on desert vistas, personal milestones, and narrative songs like Flashlights in the Canyon. The performance centers on roots-driven melodies, intertwined voices, and lyricism that carries the feel of travel while always circling back to where they started. This event is all ages.

    Benjamin Tod and more

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Sep 27
    See details

This all-ages event features Benjamin Tod, the singer-songwriter who leads Lost Dog Street Band, arriving with songs shaped by a newfound ease and capacity for love. After years of writing from darker places, he has turned toward gratitude and stability, and that evolution informs his latest solo album, Shooting Star. Working with some of Nashville’s finest, he explores country from many angles, threading honkytonk through tunes that brush outlaw and red dirt, with folk and indie roots still present. The sound leans toward the classic side of country while holding tight to honesty and vulnerability. Raised in the rough and tumble of Nashville’s Lower Broadway, where he busked for spare change and learned hard lessons young, Tod now sings with clear purpose, hoping his music helps people face their struggles and reconnect with spirit, family, and community. It is a portrait of an artist stepping into a new chapter, steady, thankful, and ready for what comes next.

    Benjamin Tod and more

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Oct 2
    See details

All ages are welcome for an evening with Benjamin Tod and Lost Dog Street Band. Benjamin Tod, the band’s frontman and a storied singer songwriter, steps into a new chapter marked by healing, gratitude, and steadier ground. His solo album Shooting Star turns toward classic country and honkytonk, crafted with seasoned Nashville musicians and rooted in honest, finely tuned writing. The music nods to the golden era of country while carrying threads of outlaw and red dirt alongside folk and indie textures. Shaped by years of busking and hard-earned lessons on Nashville’s Lower Broadway, Tod leans into vulnerability and purpose, with songs meant to help people work through hardships and reconnect with their spirit. The writing favors three chords and the truth, bringing a sense of clarity and forward motion while retaining the grit long associated with Lost Dog Street Band.

An all-ages concert centered on All Them Witches, a Nashville-born quartet of creative outliers who blend slow-burning heaviness with expansive psychedelia, out-of-body blues, and unadorned hard rock. Charles Michael Parks, JR. on bass and vocals, Ben McLeod on guitar and vocals, Allan Van Cleave on piano, keys, and violin, and Christian Powers on drums shape arresting melodies that move between dense power and weightless space. Their evolution runs through albums like Our Mother Electricity, Lightning at the Door, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker, Sleeping Through the War, and ATW, leading to Nothing as the Ideal, which drew acclaim from outlets such as The Line of Best Fit, Classic Rock, and Paste. They have appeared at festivals including Bonnaroo and Pukkelpop, filled rooms on headlining runs, and toured with Mastodon, Primus, and Ghost. With their first new music in years, they arrive at House of Mirrors, a seventh full-length and first release with BMG. The event information also spotlights Emma Ruth Rundle, known for the stark intimacy of Engine of Hell, recorded largely live with minimal overdubs for a close, unfiltered focus on voice and either piano or guitar. A multifaceted musician whose work spans the dreamlike Electric Guitar: One and projects such as Marriages, Red Sparowes, and Nocturnes, she returns to the piano of her youth to frame songs rooted in memory and vulnerability. Engine of Hell culminates with In My Afterlife, a piece that reflects on release and personal transition, marking a significant turning point in her artistry.

This all ages show spotlights Carsie Blanton, a radical folk songwriter whose catchy tunes, sharp humor, and bold optimism power singalong-ready choruses. Carrying forward the spirit of Woody Guthrie, she blends vaudeville sparkle, campfire camaraderie, and punk edge into music that feels both intimate and defiant. With a well-traveled band by her side, she uses wit, warmth, and taut musicianship to turn a room into a chorus and to kindle a shared sense of hope. Offstage, Blanton is also an organizer and activist. After sailing with the Global Sumud Flotilla to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, she was detained in Israel for five days, an experience that framed the release of The Little Flame, a solidarity song later included on The Red Album Vol II and featuring voices from Ye Vagabonds and Rana Hamida. Two decades on the road have earned her a devoted following, several viral moments, and frequent sellouts in midsize venues across the United States and Europe. Her current touring includes shows with her band and collaborations with Canadian folk punk outfit The Burning Hell, alongside continued work with artists and movements opposing apartheid and supporting socialist organizing. Critics have praised her for crafting protest songs of striking beauty and for pairing big hooks with an even bigger heart.

This event is open to all ages. Fruit Bats, the long-running project of Eric D. Johnson, brings a warm, full-band indie rock sound shaped by years of patient songwriting and a recent burst of immediacy. The Landfill, their 2026 album on Merge Records, treats memory and possibility like a towering landscape, pairing big, live-room instrumentation with the personal openness that defined Johnson’s solo release Baby Man. In the studio, Johnson and bandmates David Dawda, Josh Mease, Frank LoCrasto, and Kosta Galanopoulos captured their chemistry with no click tracks, minimal overdubs, and a mix from frequent collaborator Thom Monahan, resulting in music that feels vivid and in the moment. The set of new songs ranges from sun-drenched reveries to spirited, high-stakes rock, touching on themes of love, uncertainty, and the paths we take. Highlights from this chapter include the title track, That Goddamn Sun, Think Aboutcha, and Perhaps We’re a Storm, each revealing the group’s dynamic interplay and Johnson’s tender, hazy vocals. Known as one of indie rock’s most in-demand live acts, Fruit Bats deliver seekers and anthems alike, honest and big-hearted, with a sound that shimmers, stretches, and soars.

When an uprising sets the library ablaze, they flee with as many spellbooks as they can carry and retreat to the remote island where Kiela spent her childhood. Settling in, she keeps crossing paths with a persistent, very handsome neighbor who checks that she is eating and lends a hand with home repairs. To bring in income, she notices the bakery in town has no jam, then turns to her parents’ recipe book and a bit of illegal magic to cover her garden in ripe berries. Magic can do more than sweeten breakfast, so she pushes further, risking the consequences of unapproved spells as she quietly opens the island’s first hidden spellshop.

    Weatherday

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Oct 2
    See details

This all-ages event features Weatherday, the noise-pop project from single-name songwriter Sputnik, centered on a hornet-inspired concept. Hornet Disaster follows the 2019 debut Come in and serves as a companion to the 2022 collaboration Weatherglow, representing the project’s widest scope yet. In an initial surge, more than seventy songs were written and then distilled into a unified narrative that connects back to earlier work. The album bursts open with a caustic title track that is urgent, noisy, unpredictable and playful, signaling shifts in songwriting and production. Lead single Angel, paired with Heartbeats, brings a punchy emo rush, while its counterpart nods to The Knife with a sleek, downtempo twist. Across nineteen tracks, the movement, color, and shape of hornets weave through sudden melodies and sharp turns, making room for explorations like a Swedish-language tribute in Pulka, the airy voice of renaissance flute on Green Tea Seaweed Sea, and the folktronica contours of Ripped Apart By Hands. The result is a teeming swarm of songs that balances volatility with purpose and familiarity, extending the tangled intensity of Come in and embracing the liberated confidence of a voice fully found.

Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd, South Burlington · verified Sep 27

All ages. The Bouncing Souls lead a night of punk with the singalong spirit they have championed since 1989. Their tenth album, Simplicity, was created to capture the spark of their early years while reflecting who they are today, recorded with producer John Seymour, known for his work on How I Spent My Summer Vacation and Anchors Aweigh. Tracked with the urgency of a live set, it highlights cutting guitars, bold bass, steady drums, and soaring vocals, shifting from breakneck bursts to more tender punk ballads, all rooted in a shared love of playing together. The Suicide Machines bring Detroit ska punk to the stage. Formed in 1991, they have released seven full-lengths on Hollywood Records, Sideonedummy Records, and Fat Wreck Chords, along with EPs and singles. Their profile grew through relentless touring, radio play like No Face on KROQ’s Top 106.7 in 1997, and placements in films and video games. Jay Navarro continues as frontman, joined by Ryan Vanderberghe-Malburg on drums, Rich Tschirhart on bass, and Justin Malek on guitar. In 2026 they mark the 30th anniversary of Destruction by Definition. Toronto-raised mainstays The Flatliners add their long-running chemistry to the bill. Chris Cresswell, Scott Brigham, Jon Darbey, and Paul Ramirez have kept the same lineup since 2002, earning their following from basement shows and dive bars to arenas with Weezer and major festivals around the world. With each new chapter they grow from their past while keeping the core of their sound intact, offering a cathartic outlet for turbulent times.
