Bellingham SeaFeast marks ten years on the waterfront with a free festival at Squalicum Harbor and Zuanich Point Park in Bellingham, Washington. The celebration spotlights the working waterfront, bringing together commercial fishing, craft beverages, traditional salmon roasting, and local art. Expect seafood vendors serving fresh catches and Pacific Northwest favorites, a waterfront beer, wine, and cider garden, the Lummi Nation Firepit Salmon traditional experience, a dockside seafood market, live music, and artists and makers offering coastal inspired goods. Interactive booths explore the maritime world, industry tours showcase the working waterfront, and hands on maritime activities are open to all. Enjoy a relaxed Clean Water Happy Hour at Overflow Taps in Barkley Village, benefiting charity: water, the nonprofit behind more than 155,000 water projects across 29 countries. The organizers will cover each attendee’s first drink until the giveaways begin. Expect a casual, social vibe with giveaways sponsored by local businesses, which may include restaurant gift cards, local merchandise, and coffee cards. Strengthen sea kayaking safety skills in the closing session of this series at Community Boating Center - Bellingham. The class takes place in and on the water, beginning with shallow wet exit drills to build comfort. Participants then practice paddle float and cowboy self rescues, learn the assisted T rescue, and refine bracing and edging to stay upright. The experience also highlights a longstanding human relationship with the sea, recognizing innovations from Indigenous northern communities and the maritime knowledge of African and Indigenous ancestors.
