This screening is part of Scarecrowber at the SIFF Film Center, a partnership between Scarecrow Video and SIFF that showcases three vintage frights, from a slasher to a ghost story to an alien invasion, each blending distinct genre thrills with a mystery to solve and images that linger. Scarecrow Video, Seattle’s nonprofit video archive with more individual rental titles than anywhere in the world, embraces October when horror takes center stage, and SIFF is dubbing Scarecrowber the 10th month with staff-selected favorites. The Bluegrass Jam at Machine House Brewing welcomes musicians of all ages and experience levels in Hillman City for a community-focused picking session centered on classic bluegrass. Selections stay in a bluegrass vein, so songs from other genres are fine when played in a bluegrass style, and the host may guide choices to keep the circle running smoothly. You do not need to lead a tune to take part, and in larger circles newer players may be seated around the outside.
