Enjoy stories, songs, and sunshine during an outdoor storytime in the park. Each session features lively read-alouds, singalongs, simple movement, and playful activities that encourage imagination and early literacy in a relaxed setting. Caregivers and young children can connect with others, play, and learn together in a casual drop-in format. No registration is required.

Every Tuesday evening offers a chance to pitch horseshoes at no cost. Horseshoes are provided for participants.

Skagit County Parent to Parent’s summer park day at Kiwanis Park brings families of children with developmental disabilities or complex health needs together to meet one another and connect with Skagit P2P staff. Participants should bring their own snacks, water, and sunscreen. Parents must supervise their children. The gathering takes place at the Kiwanis Park baseball field during MVPR’s free inclusive Rec-on-the-Go program.

Skagit Transit’s board meets monthly with options to participate either in person or online. Additional special meetings may be scheduled during 2026. Those who want to speak during the public comment period at the start of the meeting can sign in at the meeting room in Burlington City Hall. A free back to school community event at Evergreen Beauty College’s Mount Vernon campus offers complimentary haircuts, mini manicures, and mini facials for K-12 students. Services are provided on a first come, first served basis by students under the supervision of a licensed professional. No appointments are required, and the event is open to everyone.

The Mount Vernon Downtown Association and the Lincoln Theatre present Pine Square Cinema, a summertime outdoor film series. Screenings take place outside the Lincoln Theatre as a community movie night. Attendees can bring a chair and blankets and pick up dinner from nearby restaurants to enjoy during the show. Live entertainment is planned before the movie, and the Lincoln Theatre lobby will be open for concessions like popcorn, soda, and candy ahead of the screening.
