A Tone Circle somatic singing meditation invites participants to explore the idea that peace begins within. Guided by Tone Circle Founder Briana Blythe and the soothing resonance of crystal singing bowls, the session weaves gentle meditation with freeform vocal toning to quiet mental chatter, regulate the nervous system, and support alignment of mind, body, and spirit. It is a nonreligious, embodiment-based experience, and no singing background is needed. Attendees sustain simple sounds such as hums or open vowels with nothing to learn, memorize, or perform. Listening quietly is always welcome until it feels right to add a voice, and every voice is valued. Seating is often on the floor, so bringing a favorite cushion or zafu can add comfort, and chairs will be available. A water bottle and layered clothing are recommended. Briana brings extensive training in classical voice and opera, followed by a transition into sound work after burnout and personal loss. Vocal toning became the practice that restored her relationship with her voice, and she now facilitates experiences that help release fear, shame, and self-judgment while offering supportive vocal attunements. An intimate evening at St Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle brings together YAIMA and Nessi Gomes for a quietly immersive concert experience. YAIMA, the duo of multi-instrumentalist and producer Masaru Higasa with vocalist Pepper Proud, shapes cinematic soundscapes with instruments from around the world, organic rhythms, spacious electronic textures, warm vocals, and reflective lyrics. Rooted in a deep reverence for nature, their work seeks to connect people with the natural world. The name draws from a Mapudungun phrase meaning “that which water runs through” as well as Japan’s Yaeyama Islands, and over the past five years their music has reached audiences across the globe. British‑Portuguese songwriter Nessi Gomes, born on the island of Guernsey, writes songs that meet life head on. Her music holds beauty alongside fear, gives space to longing without needing to resolve it, and lets shadowed feelings breathe without shame. Elements of her Portuguese heritage color the emotional palette, from ache and yearning to persistent hope. She writes to understand herself and sings to remain truthful. Her debut album, Diamonds & Demons, opened the way to sharing her songs internationally in both intimate and larger settings, with an emphasis on presence and authenticity. Presented within the Cathedrals Concerts series by Abbey Arts, a Seattle nonprofit nurturing music, arts, and community since 2005 and celebrating 20 years, this event offers an open floor format with a calm, listening-centered atmosphere. All ages are welcome, with some seating available. Expect a mix of chairs, benches, pews, and floor space around the stage, and feel free to bring cushions or blankets for comfort. Quiet picnics are welcome, while outside alcohol is not permitted. A bar is available with ID, and alcohol sales support local music and nonprofits through the help of local sponsors.
