RxGymnastics returns to Kent CrossFit with a hands-on seminar series designed to build confidence, sharpen technique, and improve efficiency across key gymnastics skills. Coaching from Justin pairs clear progressions with practical drills to support athletes at every level, whether working toward a first pull-up or refining advanced movements. Four focused options are available so participants can choose what best fits their goals. The bar muscle-up session zeroes in on skills and drills for smooth bar transitions. The ring muscle-up option develops both strict and kipping variations. A bar basics session strengthens fundamentals such as toes-to-bar, kipping and butterfly pull-ups and chest-to-bar, along with a review of strict strength. The handstand session guides athletes from entry skills to stable holds and walks, plus strength and technique for handstand push-ups. These seminars are eligible for CrossFit continuing education units. Prerequisites vary by track. Bar or ring muscle-up sessions require three strict pull-ups, three strict ring dips, and a baseline kipping pull-up or chest-to-bar ability. Bar basics is scalable for all levels, with a strict pull-up recommended. The handstand option asks for a full wall walk with a 10 second hold at end range. Celebrating its 8th year at Roegner Park, this 5k and kids 1k supports Washington’s National Park Fund. The 5k course is USATF certified, and entry includes a finisher’s medal, t-shirt, collective bib, and complimentary race photo downloads. Celebrating its sixteenth year, this breast cancer benefit pageant blends competition with fundraising at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center. Contestants can compete for age division titles while raising money for local research at Fred Hutch. Titleholders are invited to represent the organization throughout the year at breast cancer events, parades, walks, and a special annual photo shoot. An optional interview segment features a round robin format with 90 second one on one conversations with each judge, is judged by a separate panel, and does not affect the overall queen titles. Twelve crowns will be awarded across age groups 0 to 2, 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, 15 to 17, 18 to 26, and 27 and older, along with a Talent Queen and three Elite Queen titles. Adoptions follow a thorough process that includes submitting an application, completing a reference check, and a home visit. Placements are based on best fit rather than order of arrival, and approvals are not completed on the same day.

World Ballet Company presents Swan Lake at the Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center in a lavish staging accompanied by a live orchestra. A cast of 50 international dancers performs amid more than 150 hand-sewn costumes and meticulously crafted sets, bringing to life a story where destiny, sorcery, and the struggle between good and evil unfold. Tchaikovsky’s score is performed live, setting the stage for signature moments such as the Dance of the Little Swans and the Black Swan’s 32 fouettés. The performance runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission, and is suitable for ages 5 and older. The company is based in Los Angeles under the direction of Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick, touring beloved classics to cities across the nation and welcoming both first-time attendees and longtime ballet fans. Its roster features acclaimed artists representing more than ten countries, with appearances in over 300 cities and audiences totaling more than half a million.

This teen driving school centers on practical, behind-the-wheel learning in real traffic scenarios. Students practice in their own cars to understand how their vehicles behave near the limits and how to stay in control. The program pairs each participant with a trained in-car instructor and also includes classroom instruction. It is intended to build skills that go beyond standard driver education, giving new drivers the tools and experience to become safer and more attentive on the road.

Teen drivers spend a full day building practical skills behind the wheel and in the classroom with the Tire Rack Street Survival program. Across three classroom sessions totaling about two hours, students explore proper seating and hand positions, mirror setup, how tire contact patches work, the basics of weight transfer, using long range vision, and staying aware while minimizing distractions such as radios, phones, or extra passengers. The rest of the day takes place in each student’s own car with an in-car coach. On course, they practice wet skid control on a skid pad, quick lane changes for collision avoidance, threshold braking with ABS, and a slalom that highlights weight transfer. When conditions allow, additional drills include two wheels off recovery and a tailgating awareness exercise. Some locations also stage a semi truck visibility demonstration by parking cars around the rig and having participants sit in the cab to reveal blind spots. An air bag may be deployed as part of a safety lesson on hand placement. Parents and guardians are welcome to spend the day, sit in on classroom sessions, and speak with instructors, who are available to answer questions about what students are experiencing. Lunch is provided for students, parents, and volunteers, and the course fee is $175.

This community holiday celebration features the return of youth craft vendors from the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and activities for kids such as face painting and seasonal arts and crafts stations.
