At Dancing Fish Vineyards, Thursday Night Music features Those Guys, the duo of singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Hribernick and singer and percussionist Kristi Barnes, who have been performing together since 2011. Their set blends John’s original songs with a broad mix of well-known tunes across harmony-rich pop, blues, folk rock, protest rock, power ballads, and alternative, drawing on artists such as the Beatles, Indigo Girls, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Green Day, the Cranberries, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar, Radiohead, and Barenaked Ladies. John’s background includes touring the Pacific Northwest with a three-piece power-pop group, guitar work in tribute and cover bands All Mixed Up and Hot Lava inspired by Elliot Easton and Ricky Wilson, and solo acoustic performances of his own compositions since 2003. Kristi has performed with choral groups around the world, including at the Kennedy Center, later moving into covers in 2005 with bands such as Hot Lava and the ABBAgraphs, and she has sung with the classic rock cover band N2O since 2013. This three-day workshop with Scott Conary centers on how to perceive light and translate it into paint, a core challenge of representational painting. Working from still life arrangements and photographic references, participants take a painting from concept through completion with focused attention on atmosphere, convincing form, and the power of edges that may be crisply found or purposefully lost. Participants will push paint, sharpen perception, and engage in thoughtful critique, with the aim of broadening how they see and strengthening their practice.

The Pinball Wizards of Whidbey monthly tournament brings players together for friendly competition with a $5 entry. Those learning a yarn craft can bring questions, and anyone looking for a creative community or a little time out of the house is encouraged to take part. Participants may pick up a beverage or pastry from the cafe and settle into the game room. All ages and genders are welcome, and any portable craft is a good fit. Outside food and drink are not permitted at this location. If the store is open, the group meets.

Wicked Open Mic night returns with a welcoming, family friendly atmosphere. Mike hosts the night. Attendees can bring a few songs and a positive attitude to share on stage. The event is open to all ages, and NA drinks are available.
