    See details

At Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison, this coed two player net best ball welcomes any combination of partners, from spouses and family duos to friends, for 18 holes of competition. Both golfers play their own ball on every hole, and the team score uses the better net result of the two, which encourages bold lines and lets one great hole from either player keep the team in the mix. Range balls are included for warm up. Top finishers earn purse prizes, and four on course challenges such as closest to the pin and longest putt add extra excitement. An optional skins game is available, and a 50 50 raffle benefits American Family Children’s Hospital. Tee assignments place men on blue and women on gold. A white tee option is available to players age 60 and older with a 3.0 or higher handicap, or to any golfer with a 15.0 or higher handicap. Under USGA Rule 6.1, choosing the white tees may reduce the course handicap by 2 to 4 strokes. Players who want the white tee option should contact the tournament director in advance. Carts are not included in the entry and can be purchased at the golf shop. Every team of two is eligible.

Third Annual Dallas A. Willard Lecture

Upper House, 724 W Johnson St, Madison · verified Oct 9

Willard Lecture presented by the Lumen Center. Drawing on his longstanding critique of scientism, he examines how knowledge and love of God can be understood in a scientific and technological age. The lecture calls the university community to reflect on the relationship between Christianity, science, and the current cultural landscape. It considers the Christian tradition’s layered view of knowing, with love at the summit, and why that vision has dimmed in a culture steeped in science. The talk also addresses the rising influence of artificial intelligence, often shaped by assumptions consistent with scientism, and asks what a faithful Christian response should be today. The Dallas A. Willard Lecture is generously supported by Fieldstead and Co.
