Scouts work toward the Plant Science Merit Badge with a hands-on clinic at the Food + Farm Exploration Center that explores plant biology and the science of agronomy, the production and management of plants for food, fuel, and fiber. Activities delve into photosynthesis, soil function, and seed testing, and participants practice different methods of plant reproduction while learning to distinguish native species from invasive ones. A special focus highlights commercial corn production in the United States, including how growers address pests and diseases to help sustain the nation’s food and fuel supply. This program is designed for ages 11 and up. The cost is $20 per Scout, with members receiving a 10 percent discount. Space is limited to 20 Scouts with a minimum of 10 participants. Registration includes a snack and full general admission for the participating Scout to explore the exhibits after the program. Accompanying adults may purchase discounted exhibit admission for $7. The 3rd Annual Kids Fishing Frenzy at The Lodge on Lake Camelot is for kids 15 and younger and includes an educational session followed by fishing. SPYBA will conduct travel baseball evaluations for 2027 age group teams, with tryouts organized by age division. Tentative evaluation windows are planned for 9U through 14U based on 2027 eligibility, and these may shift depending on the number of players who participate. A final schedule will be shared in advance. Players 8U and under are encouraged to register so interest can be assessed and team planning can move forward. This dirt dash brings a full slate of racing and derby action. On the racing side, expect Dirt Dash, FWD/BWD, and Figure 8, each paying $1,000 to the winner, with heats, consis, and feature races determining the results. Derby competition includes UDI Gut N' Go FWD and MWFA/Dirt Dash style, also paying $1,000 to win. Every class comes with a big check, plus payouts and awards for the top three finishers.
