At Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co., X-Ray Arcade presents a night featuring Acid Mothers Temple, Magick Potion, and Shadeseeker. Acid Mothers Temple began in 1995 under the direction of Makoto Kawabata alongside the Acid Mothers Temple Soul Collective. Their 1997 debut on Japan's PSF Records earned recognition from The Wire, and in 1998 they launched tours across the United States and Europe. Since then they have continued to tour widely, added performances throughout Asia and in Japan, and by 2017 had released about 80 albums on labels around the world. The group has also collaborated with artists such as Gong, Guru Guru, Simeon of Silver Apples, Nik Turner of Hawkwind, Occitan singer Rosina de Peira, and Japanese musicians including Afrirampo, Tatsuya Yoshida, Maso Yamazaki, Seiichi Yamamoto, and Jun Kuriyama. Magick Potion hails from the rural outskirts of Baltimore and performs as a heavy rock trio with founder Dresden Boulden on guitar and vocals, Triston Grove on bass, and Jason Kendall on drums. Their music draws on the raw energy and weighty grooves of late 1960s and early 1970s rock, nodding to bands like Blue Cheer, The Amboy Dukes, and Budgie, and blends gritty riffs, driving bass lines, powerful drums, and touches of psychedelia. Milwaukee psych rock band Shadeseeker rounds out the bill. This show is all ages.

    Joe Stamm

Shank Hall, 1434 N Farwell Ave, Milwaukee · verified Oct 9
    See details

Shank Hall welcomes Joe Stamm for a night shaped by stories from central Illinois, where small moments turn into big, lived-in songs. After years of writing, performing, and touring, his craft shows in the finely drawn details and a voice that invites deep feeling. The Joe Stamm Band blends gritty country with roots-driven rock, a sound they call Black Dirt Country Rock. Their newest full-length album, Little Crosses, produced by Al Torrence of The Allegheny High, pulls together the spirit of the Midwest with Appalachian tones for a cinematic, distinctly American feel. Longtime bandmates round out the lineup, with Bruce Moser on bass, Dave Glover on guitar and occasional keys, and Tim Kramp on drums. Expect vivid storytelling, high energy, and dynamic builds from a group known for letting the songs lead the way.
