This two day beginning tree climbing course teaches the skills and safety practices needed to climb trees using technical rope systems for work or recreation. Training starts with the MRS approach, also known as the doubled rope technique (DdRT), chosen for its reliability and consistency and for building a strong foundation that carries over to other systems. Instruction covers gear selection and care, how to evaluate a tree, set a climbing line, ascend, move through the canopy with control, and return to the ground safely. All class gear is supplied, and participants will handle a range of equipment during training. The program blends classroom learning with in-tree practice over two days. Each student receives the Beginning Tree Climbing: Climbing Tree Using Rope & Saddle manual and four post-class climb opportunities. Open to ages 16 and up. Tuition is $535.

This Christmas program features the Vienna Boys Choir, a globally celebrated ensemble with centuries of tradition at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel. Originating from an imperial court chapel that included boy choristers, the group today operates as an independent nonprofit with a primary and grammar school for 330 students ages six to nineteen, where choral singing is at the core of the curriculum. Its education model is recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage and is open to all regardless of origin, gender, nationality, or religion. Around ninety active singers form four touring groups that collectively perform nearly three hundred concerts each year for audiences approaching half a million. The choir has completed more than a thousand tours to a hundred countries and has given roughly twenty-nine thousand concerts. They sing Mass at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the men’s chorus of the Vienna State Opera, appear regularly at the Salzburg Festival and at the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert, and have collaborated with leading conductors such as Joana Mallwitz, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Simone Young, and Franz Welser-Möst. The organization partners with UNICEF and other charities and supports outreach that offers free access to music education. Recent highlights include a live album on Deutsche Grammophon, a 21-disc Decca Classics collection, a newly published history with Böhlau, and the European Culture Award.
