The 8th Annual Show & Shine by The PIT CrawlZone, presented with support from the Nitro WV CVB, brings a full day of radio controlled excitement to Ridenour Lake Park in Nitro, WV. Enthusiasts, builders, and fans of all ages can look forward to a celebration of creativity, engineering, and family-friendly fun centered around RC vehicles and boats. Competitions span a variety of terrains and skills. Expect mud bogs that test torque, rock crawling packed with technical challenges, and displays of raw power through sled pulls and a semi-truck competition. High-speed boat racing takes to the water on the lake, while a scale car show highlights detailed builds from across the region. A swap meet offers a chance to trade spare parts and find new components. Raffles and door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, with items provided by sponsors such as Team Associated. Listen for announcements over the PA to catch winning numbers. This is a family-friendly event open to everyone. Entry fees are 15 dollars per class for 10th scale, 10 dollars per class for 24th scale, and 5 dollars per RC model for the Show and Shine. The event will take place rain or shine. Attendees can support the hobby, connect with fellow builders, and check out sponsor banners around the park.

The 2026 West Virginia Tri-State Walk for Apraxia is a free community event at Barboursville Park, Shelter 9, bringing together families, friends, and professionals to honor Apraxia Stars and raise awareness of childhood apraxia of speech. Registration is free, and participants can work toward individual fundraising incentives, including this year’s walk T-shirt. Any registered walker who raises $50 earns the official 2026 shirt, and all registered Apraxia Stars receive a complimentary shirt and medal. Each Apraxia Star attending is recognized individually for their hard work with a shirt, medal, and certificate. Funds raised support Apraxia Kids and its mission to strengthen the support systems around children with apraxia of speech through education, community engagement, advocacy, and research. The walk offers a welcoming space where families feel understood and connected while contributing to the nation’s largest apraxia awareness effort.
