Bomar supports individuals navigating substance use and mental health recovery, advocating for people at every stage and working to reduce stigma by showing that recovery can be real and long lasting. This community 5K run and walk highlights that mission with a route through the avenues and a focus on hope for clients and the broader community. It is the third annual Recovery Awareness 5K Run/Walk, and the entry fee is $15. The effort centers on standing together against addiction and overdose to strengthen the community. Organizers express gratitude for continued local support and acknowledge the CHRIS RHODES MEMORIAL FOUNDATION as the race sponsor.

Members of the public may attend a full board meeting of the Washington County Behavioral Health Board. The board serves Washington County residents by coordinating a unified system for mental health care and for alcohol and drug addiction services. Its responsibilities include planning, supervising, and evaluating programs, aligning services across contracted agencies and other care providers, and stewarding funds so care is delivered efficiently and without delay. The board also maintains open communication with people who receive services and the wider community, and it pursues local financial support to build on state and federal resources.

This monthly Downtown Clean-Up Day, held April through October, focuses on sprucing up downtown Parkersburg. Volunteers spend about 90 minutes picking up trash, pulling weeds, and creating a clear community impact. Participants meet in front of the Downtown PKB office, where supplies are provided and work areas are assigned before heading out. Attendees are asked to send a Facebook message to confirm participation. Event sponsor is WVU Medicine Camden Clark, and the supply sponsor is Wood County Solid Waste Authority.
