Explore the Botanic Garden with your little ones while learning about nature. A WVBG educator leads a brief story time, a guided walk, and a simple craft activity. The program is planned with preschoolers in mind, yet participants of all ages are welcome. WVBG members attend at no cost, and general admission is $15. Advance registration is required.

The Outdoor Classroom in Cheat Lake welcomes visitors to meet the birds in its care and learn about the conservation of their wild counterparts. ACCA educators are available to answer questions throughout the visit. These open tour days are free and geared toward families and individuals. Celebrate the finale of MPLS’s Summer Reading Program with the debut Library Desk Concert. Settle in by the circulation desk on the first floor to hear local performers, or visit a crafting table to make a DIY guitar pick necklace. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome for seating. Entomologist David Davis, Ph.D., author of "What’s Blooming at the WVBG," leads an educational program at the West Virginia Botanic Garden on the many ways the garden supports insect pollinators.

Registration is now open for the Monongalia County Fair pageant, a weekend focused on building self-confidence, celebrating community, and honoring longstanding fair traditions. Open to ages 3 to 21, it is suitable for first-time participants as well as returning contestants. This edition also marks the first year of festivities at the new fairgrounds. Contestants will have the opportunity to represent the Monongalia County Fair on stage.
