Stanley's Spot and Pleasant Street Bridge Beautification Projects

Morgantown Forward’s Summer Service Series brings hands-on improvements to Stanley’s Spot Dog Park and the nearby Pleasant Street Bridge area, with work focused on trail building, beautifying bridge pillars, and preparing sites for future public art. Each service day can look a little different, as tasks are set based on current progress and needs, and detailed instructions will be shared in advance. These activities are family-friendly, and volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Tools, supplies, and gloves are provided by Morgantown Forward, along with water and snacks. Participants should wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothing that can handle paint and dirt. Funding for the Pleasant Street Bridge Beautification Project is provided by the Trail Volunteer Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation, with support from the Mon River Trails Conservancy.

Explore Japanese flower arranging in an all-levels workshop led by instructor Motoko Hattori. Participants create their own ikebana pieces that evoke natural settings while learning core principles of this traditional art. The class is offered monthly. First-time students can buy a reusable tool set from the instructor that includes flower frogs, mulberry wood, and a textbook. Please bring a container, a shallow dish works well, along with your own clippers. Flowers are provided. Motoko is the headmistress of the Keika-Kazan School of Ikebana, founded in 1930 by her grandmother, Bunga Tanuma. Keika means scenic flower arranging, using branches and other plant materials to shape landscapes such as steep gorges, lakesides, waterfalls, flowing streams, and seashores, sometimes even telling a story. Celebrate Father’s Day with a relaxed, family-friendly outing at The Playroom + Coffee Corner. The center court space just outside becomes a kid-focused track where children can ride non-motorized bikes, scooters, or other ride-on toys, with loaners available for those who need one. When I Grow Up ... Camp - Ages 3-5 - June 22-26

Designed for children ages 3 to 5, this camp invites little ones to explore future careers through play and movement, trying on roles like astronaut, paleontologist, and horticulturist, from space adventures and dinosaur digs to planting seeds to nurture at home. Each day spotlights a new profession and the world around it, woven into a dance class that introduces early ballet fundamentals and movement literacy. The experience continues with a healthy snack, a hands-on craft, a themed skill building course, and creative movement that explores a variety of dynamics. Tuition is $180 plus tax and includes the snack, all materials, and instruction.

Merengue Social Dance Workshop

With so many danceable concerts in Morgantown, this workshop teaches merengue so you can break out fresh steps at your next upbeat live show. Merengue is a partner dance in the Dominican style, known for a consistent beat and a straightforward basic step that makes it friendly for beginners. The atmosphere is lively and social, and the moves you learn translate well to a range of musical styles. Participants may bring a partner. The cost is $10 per student, and the class will run once at least eight students are enrolled. Friends are welcome.

Children ages 5 to 12 can build confidence and practice their reading by sharing stories with trained therapy dogs. These friendly canine listeners enjoy the attention and do not mind a gentle tummy rub while they hear each tale. An annual summer program returns to Krepps Park with a playful morning for children ages 3 to 6. Pavilion 2 in the upper area of the park hosts two engaging stories, a mix of activities, craft making, and refreshments. This session features the Monkey Business theme, explored through stories and creative fun. Capacity is limited to 24 children and spaces are offered in order of arrival, so arriving early is encouraged. Reservations are not taken.

Young at Art

Young at Art at Spark! Imagination and Science Center invites children ages 4 and up to explore the work of inspiring artists while trying a variety of creative techniques. Each interactive session centers on open-ended creation that fosters curiosity, imagination, and self-expression. Participation is included with general admission, and no registration is required. This program is supported by The Organizational Arts Grant, made possible by the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission, and the Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts, through a collaborative effort between YCF and the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown. The celebration pairs bananas and bass with three hours of music as @side.quest.musick, @officialbatterylow, and @itsjustwalt deliver DJ and producer sets while the quest to recover the Kong family banana hoard unfolds. An open decks session and SNES free play precede the featured sets. Four CDJ-3000 players and a DJM-A9 mixer will be available, and participants can plug in with a Rekordbox formatted USB. Open decks access is included with a $10 cover, and the SNES will be set up for anyone who wants to play. Costumes and flow art are encouraged. Eloquence Antiques hosts a large indoor vintage market throughout the hallways of Mountaineer Mall in Morgantown, WV. Expect a lively scene with vintage finds, architectural salvage, antiques, furniture, gifts, and other unique pieces to browse as you search for treasures. The event is known to draw strong crowds. Vendor spaces must be reserved in advance, with each reservation priced at $15 for a 12-by-10-foot area. Vendors are asked to supply their own tables, bags, and change, and to bring a dolly or cart for moving merchandise. A limited number of carts will be available to help with loading, and setup check-ins will be staggered. In-person reservations are available at the store, or text 724-880-1506 to request a payment link for card transactions, and messages are also accepted via Facebook. Create a welcoming home for backyard birds by transforming a gourd into a hanging birdhouse with guidance from Kelley. Participants will paint and work with a mix of simple tools to craft a one-of-a-kind piece that is ready to hang, blending creativity with a practical project for feathered visitors.

A pub menu is available, along with $1 wings and $5.50 pours on select bourbons.

A relaxed Pokémon Club welcomes fans of every age and experience level. Each month participants explore the world of Pokémon through activities that include looking at and optionally trading Pokémon cards, learning and playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game, creating a themed craft, and designing a custom Pokémon card. No prior experience is required, you do not need to know how to play to participate, and trading is entirely optional. Participants may bring their own cards or simply enjoy the activities available. A friendly setting to meet fellow fans, open to all ages.

Ballerina Princess Camp - 3-5 Year Olds - July 6-10

Designed for young children who adore princesses and ballet, this camp blends imaginative storytelling with early dance training. Each day highlights a different ballerina princess, and dancers explore her role through pre-ballet and movement literacy activities that encourage playful movement and graceful fundamentals. Participants also make a ballet-themed craft to use during class and at home, and a healthy snack is provided. The cost is $180 plus tax and includes the snack, all materials, and instruction.

Classic and custom automobiles will line the 400 block of High Street in downtown Morgantown as the Car Cruise-In opens the summer series with a community-centered showcase. Hosted by Dream Machines Car Club, the gathering attracts car enthusiasts from across the region to admire distinctive vehicles while exploring nearby shops and restaurants. This affiliate event is connected with Main Street Morgantown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has supported the vitality of the Downtown and Wharf Districts since 1984. As a National Main Street Accredited organization, Main Street Morgantown advances revitalization through strategies in Design, Economic Vitality, Organization, and Promotion.

Ridge Fest

Ridge Fest returns with a no-cost outdoor concert in the church parking lot featuring live music from the Ridge Worship Band. Enjoy time outside with local food trucks available for purchase, or bring a picnic and snacks. The stage will be set near the new playground so kids can play while families listen. Plan to bring chairs and blankets for comfort, and have cash on hand if you would like to buy from the trucks. For everyone’s comfort, pets are not permitted.

Set out on a playful safari around the globe, exploring a variety of habitats and the animals that call them home. Children will pretend to swim like octopuses, slither like snakes, and hop like kangaroos while building early ballet foundations and expressing their favorite creatures through imaginative movement. Each day includes a beginner ballet and creative movement class, a healthy snack, a themed craft, and time on an obstacle course to develop skills and confidence. Mountaineer Country Farm Crawl
