The 6th Annual United Way 5K in memory of Suzanne Kresser brings the community together for a morning of running, walking, and giving back. The route moves through historic downtown Steubenville. A family friendly atmosphere features vendors and community partners on site, along with raffles and prizes. The event supports the work of the United Way of Jefferson County while honoring the legacy of Suzanne Kresser. Runners, walkers, and supporters come together to celebrate community, compassion, and the difference one person can make.

The Saturday Market on Fourth returns to downtown Steubenville with the 100 block of North Fourth Street closed for a family and dog friendly street market. Browse vendors such as Tacos Jorges Mexican Food Truck, Busy Bees Acres with produce, Into the Desert custom wood products, Swicks Wicks candles, Hachis Barkery dog treats, local maple syrup, TJ's Treats, Handcrafted Closet Baby Co., Chinchi's Treats baked goods, braid+bloom, and Homeward Bound of Steubenville, with more to discover. Enjoy a lego build and gaga ball on Fourth Street, along with live music by Michael Manocchia and The Brasset Hounds. Bookmarx hosts a children's storybook hour, and nearby businesses including Steubenville Grocery Box, Leonardo's Coffee, Bookmarx, Spyridon Studios, Yorgos, Steubenville Popcorn, and Chesterton Cigars are open to explore. North Fourth Street will be closed to vehicles for the market and will reopen afterward.

Meadowcroft offers complimentary admission during Washington & Greene Counties’ Annual Covered Bridge Festival, highlighting the historic Pine Bank Covered Bridge. Built in 1871, the bridge once spanned Tom’s Run in the village of Pine Bank in Greene County. When demolition loomed in 1961, Meadowcroft founder Albert Miller preserved the structure by moving it nearly 70 miles to its current location. Now a restored pedestrian bridge with a significant rehabilitation completed in 2017, it showcases 19th century workmanship at a time when fewer than 700 of the more than 10,000 covered bridges that once existed in the United States remain. Festival visitors can walk the bridge and explore Meadowcroft’s historic villages at no cost, with optional Rockshelter tours available for $5 per person. The bridge is open to pedestrians only, and vehicles are not permitted.

Beaver County BookFest returns to Alumni Hall at Lincoln Park with a community celebration of reading, writing, and the arts. The festival welcomes attendees of all ages, offering no-cost entry and complimentary parking. Visitors can connect with authors, explore a variety of literary vendors, and find new reads with opportunities for book signings. Activities created for families add to the inviting atmosphere for readers of every level. Exhibitor registration is currently open, with space available for authors as well as organizations and businesses.

DJ Neal sets the tone for a monthly line dancing night with an open dance floor and upbeat energy. The emphasis is on social dancing rather than instruction, unless a lesson is specifically announced. Expect great music, food specials, and $4.50 cans of High Noon as the dancing continues well into the evening.

An interactive murder mystery dinner at Enchanting Garden sets the scene in Sicily in 1942. Participants adopt Italian characters, read their parts, and follow the clues to identify the murderer. The cost to participate is $20, whether you read or not. Expect playful suspense and dramatic reveals as the plot unfolds.

Local high school soccer teams come together for a day of soccer, raffles, and community spirit to raise money for The Cancer Dietary Initiative in Steubenville, OH. The event features soccer matchups and raffle opportunities that channel support to the initiative.

Meadowcroft hosts a guided woodland walk that links Pennsylvania’s natural history to the present. Participants explore how early hunter-gatherers used native plants and wildlife to secure food, create tools, and survive, and they learn how the state’s forests have changed over time and why they continue to be vital. The experience unfolds across Meadowcroft’s surrounding landscape and is presented in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Forestry Association, Penn State, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and other organizations across the commonwealth. Participation is included with general admission. Buying tickets ahead of time is encouraged, and day-of purchases may be available at the Barensfeld Center admissions desk depending on availability.

At Wells Township Haunted House, dark, gritty alternative rock amplifies the chills, pairing a live, high-energy show with the haunted house experience. The music mirrors the spooky atmosphere and serves as a soundtrack for a night of scares, uniting live alt rock with haunting thrills in one setting.

Tryouts for North teams are open to athletes in the 12U to 14U range, which corresponds to grades 5 through 8. Registration will take place before the evaluation period. Participants should arrive with enough time to check in ahead of the start of tryouts.

Autumn activities unfold across the site, including hearth cooking in the Hamilton Log House, cornhusk crafting inside the 18th century frontier trading post, and atlatl throwing in the Monongahela Indian Village. It is the final event before winter, a chance to enjoy crisp air and colorful scenery. Fall finale programming is included with regular Meadowcroft admission and is free for History Center members, while taffy pulling is a $5 add on per participant. Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended.
