YWCA Wheeling offers a no-cost, weeklong overnight STEM camp at Linsly School for girls entering ninth and tenth grades. This immersive program blends hands-on learning with real-world exploration. Participants experiment with the science behind cosmetics by making a product, visit Oglebay Zoo and explore hydroponics through a farm to table lens, and take daily trips to workplaces where science, technology, engineering, and math are used every day. Outdoor games and team challenges add to the experience while building confidence and leadership, and there is time to form lasting friendships. At Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, Tony G. Paree shares how a rediscovered bowl in his basement filled with vivid matchbooks and covers from places he visited or collected set him on a path to explore Wheeling’s past. These pocket-sized designs promoted restaurants, bars, banks, factories, and other local businesses that once energized the Upper Ohio Valley. A Wheeling native, Paree worked for 45 years at Crone's Clothiers and became a dedicated collector of local memorabilia with a focus on preserving everyday history. His publications include Victorian Trade Cards of Wheeling from 2014 and Real Photo Postcards of Wheeling from 2019.

This donation-based class is open to all levels, and no prior experience is required. Longtime educator Pete Chacalos visits Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library to talk about his new coffee table book on Wheeling Park High School football. Spanning the program’s origins in 1976 through the 2025 season, the book is arranged decade by decade and built from the recollections of players, coaches, and support staff. The presentation explores rivalries, All-State performers, notable opponents, memorable victories and key plays, as well as team and individual records from the program’s first fifty years.
