Weekly clay studio classes for teens ages 11 to 17 at The Sarah West Gallery of Fine Art center on pottery and sculpture with seasonal themes. Participants learn hand-building techniques as they design and create their own decorative and functional pieces, then complete them with glazing. Glazing and firing are included. Class sizes are small, and beginners are welcome. Open enrollment is available for the back-to-school season, and a separate children’s studio is also offered. The Tray Wellington Band makes its Sundilla debut with a concert at AUUF, bringing a banjo-centered sound that moves fluidly through folk, bluegrass, jazz, and contemporary roots music. The group presents Wellington’s compositions with rich instrumentation, inventive arrangements, intricate rhythms, and improvisation, shaping an immersive, high-energy performance that bridges tradition and modern ideas. Tray Wellington has received the 2024 Steve Martin Banjo Prize and the 2019 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year, and he is a two-time IBMA New Artist of the Year nominee. His performances range from intimate house concerts to a spot on Saturday Night Live with Mumford & Sons, along with appearances at major festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Coverage from The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Billboard, and NPR has highlighted his innovative role in contemporary roots music. Advance tickets are $20 at Spicer’s Music and Ross House Coffee. Admission is $25 at the door, with a $15 student rate.

Connect Over Coffee is the Opelika Chamber’s monthly networking event that brings together people from a wide range of businesses to make connections and share information about their organizations and needs. Business cards from all participants are emailed to attendees after the meeting, which makes it easy to follow up with anyone you did not get to meet. The gathering is presented by The Opelika Police Department, and the program sponsor is Landscape Workshop.
