Burritt’s 3,000 square foot overlook, The View, offers a sweeping perspective of Huntsville with beautiful sunsets. Pokémon League now takes place on Wednesdays and it is free to attend. Battle other trainers as much as you wish and earn points along the way, with results posted to a weekly leaderboard. Players earn 1 point for attending, 1 point for participating in a battle, 1 point for a win, and 1 point the first time they face a new opponent during the current league month. Teaching someone new to play is worth 2 points. New to the Pokémon Trading Card Game? Instruction is available, and decks can be borrowed or built with help. The leaderboard resets at the start of each month. The top three at month’s end receive Pokémon store credit, with awards of $30 for first, $20 for second, and $10 for third. Wednesdays are also known as Wynaut Wednesday, featuring 15% off all sealed Pokémon product in the evening. League participants receive an additional 5% off. With support from the Huntsville Music Office and the City of Huntsville’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, admission is free during event hours, and closing times vary by month. The Garden Bar serves beverages with and without alcohol for purchase, and Fern & Feast On-The-Go prepares fresh, made to order concessions for an easy meal outdoors. On the third Friday of May, June, July, and August, the evening also features a mini market of local makers for an added creative touch.
