The 33rd season of the City Lights & Stars Concert Series at Burritt on the Mountain continues with its second show featuring contemporary jazz artist Eric Essix. Across more than three decades, Essix has released 28 full-length albums and continues to explore fresh directions in contemporary jazz. He has toured widely with the Eric Essix Group and performed as a sideman with many top artists, always refining his work with an eye toward lasting impact. His creative focus spans both music and a lifelong passion for photography, aiming to forge emotional and spiritual connections with audiences. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, blankets, and a picnic. Food trucks will offer meals and desserts for purchase, and beer and wine will be available to buy. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Title sponsorship is provided by Redstone Federal Credit Union. Members receive early access to tickets before the general public. Online ticket sales end the day of the concert or when sold out. All ticket purchases are non-refundable and are considered a tax-deductible donation. The performance location is set based on the weather forecast the day of the concert, and in the event of rain the show will move to the Bendickson Family Pavilion. If the concert must be cancelled due to weather or other circumstances beyond control, tickets will be treated as a tax-deductible donation to Burritt on the Mountain and purchasers will be notified by email.

Admission is free during Golden Hour events, made possible by support from the Huntsville Music Office and the City of Huntsville’s Office of Multicultural Affairs. Made-to-order concessions from Fern & Feast On-The-Go offer an easy, casual meal to round out the experience. On select editions, the evening expands with a mini market of local makers, adding an extra spark of creativity and connection.

The Moonlight Market transforms downtown Huntsville’s Courthouse Square into a lively showcase of local talent. More than 40 local artisan vendors fill the square while live music sets the tone. Anthony Easterwood returns to the Beer Garden at Old Black Bear Brewing with a set of soulful, high energy live music in the open air. Lively tunes alongside brews create a relaxed vibe that helps the workweek blues fade.

On Friday and Saturday nights, Lipz Lounge turns into a high-energy karaoke scene with loud singalongs and quick turnarounds that keep songs flowing. The room stays charged from the opening track to last call, with standout vocals and even bigger reactions from the crowd. The microphone rarely sits still, so the momentum never lets up.

The Zooks make a return appearance at Old Black Bear Brewery in downtown Madison. The brewery offers food and a selection of beers to enjoy while you are there.

The Heartshakers bring a tribute to Tom Petty to Mars Music Hall, featuring sing along moments with signature hits and other selections in a night that honors his songbook. This is a seated show.

Live & Local at The Observatory Bar features North Alabama singer songwriter Matt Prater, whose music blends country, honky tonk, folk, and roots rock into story-driven songs that resonate with listeners of all ages. He is known for turning everyday moments into vivid narratives with plainspoken clarity, delivered through a warm, melodic voice. Publications including The Alternate Root, Ear to the Ground, and No’Ala Magazine have praised his authentic sound, memorable songwriting, and heartfelt storytelling, and industry peers have recognized the honesty in his work. Prater tours extensively through songwriter showcases, venues, and festivals, often appearing in rounds with hit writers and having opened for major artists. His catalog spans albums from Small Town Son and The Mountain to Tables and Chairs, Same Ole Highway Blues, and Ain’t Life A Trip, along with more recent singles. Expect a set steeped in roots, classic country grit, and timeless tales.

Karaoke takes center stage at Chips and Salsa Sports Bar, with performances projected on a big screen so lyrics are easy to follow. Guests can sing or cheer on friends. The kitchen will be open for food while the songs keep rolling.

Tip Top Hsv hosts a showcase of Huntsville’s women vocalists with a hip hop focus, featuring DJ Lisha, Rosy Profane, Shy, A Jené, Queen Keiani, Lady Lace, and G thee Goddess. Admission is free, with food and drinks available.

Huntsville native Matt Michael delivers a solo acoustic performance that blends recognizable favorites with his own songs. Active in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee since 2008, he also plays bass with Dr. Whateva, a longtime favorite in the Huntsville music scene, and performs with acoustic duos around town. His album Second Coming was released in January 2026, accompanied by a video for the featured track Slipping Away, so audiences can expect a set that showcases both new material and familiar hits.

Set inside the Historic Tip Top Cafe in Huntsville, this weekly blues jam welcomes musicians of every skill level, from seasoned players to first-time performers. There are no signups. Each week there is a secret password... say it at the stage and host Otis Walker will get you set to play. A provided backline keeps things simple, so participants only need to bring themselves and their instrument. Memphis born and Shoals seasoned, Otis is a busy figure in the Huntsville scene and guides an easygoing night where experienced artists trade licks alongside newcomers in a supportive setting. Musicians travel in from Birmingham, the Shoals, and Middle Tennessee to take part. Launched in summer 2024, it made its home at the Historic Tip Top Cafe and carries on a tradition rooted in blues, community, and a relaxed, welcoming feel. People come for the music and stay for the community, and everyone is welcome.
