Cool off with a canine-friendly outing as the Garden opens its trails for dogs and their people to explore the desert together. Pause at shady rest spots, take advantage of water and refill stations throughout the grounds, and capture plenty of photo moments along the way. For access guidelines, dogs are not permitted at Gertrude’s by Tarbell’s, The RAF Gallery, the Butterfly Pavilion, or the Cactus Clubhouse. For health and safety, keep dogs leashed, licensed, and current on vaccinations, clean up after your pet and place bagged waste in trash receptacles, and maintain control at all times. Any dog showing aggression toward people or other dogs will be required to leave. Be mindful of paws and noses near cactus pieces and other debris, stay on designated trails, and watch for signs of heat stress to ensure a safe visit for everyone.

Now in its fourth year, the Playa golf tournament raises funds for Helping Hands For Freedom, with a goal of collecting $10,000 in support of the organization. This competitive event on the course focuses on turning the love of golf into meaningful impact.

Dinosaurs return to the Phoenix Zoo this fall, appearing across the trails in greater numbers than before. These prehistoric ancestors of the zoo’s birds and reptiles can be experienced up close with sights and sounds as you explore. Visitors can take part in a fossil dig and capture family photos with favorite dinosaurs. Look for life-size dinosaur figures and bones throughout the grounds.

ACEL-Phoenix and the Phoenix Taipei Sister City program team up with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for a hands-on service project focused on building beds so children in the community do not have to sleep on the floor. Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds and delivers handcrafted twin beds to children ages 3 to 17, helping provide better rest, improved health, and stronger opportunities at home and in school. Volunteers work together in teams on tasks that may include cutting and sanding lumber, assembling bed frames, branding and staining headboards, footboards, and rails, and preparing completed beds for delivery. No woodworking experience is needed. All tools, safety gear, and clear instructions are provided, along with snacks and beverages. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable work clothes suitable for woodworking. Safety glasses, gloves, and dust masks are supplied. Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older. Those who wish to contribute supplies can bring new twin sheet sets or twin blankets or comforters to help complete each bed. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Enter through the gates, turn left toward the flag, and park on the north side of the building. Walk past the loading dock to the south side where the build area is located. Please do not park along the east fence by the loading dock. Golf carts are available for anyone who needs assistance. Registration is required for every volunteer, and each participant must complete the online registration and waiver in advance.

Designed for families and caregivers, the 3rd Annual Autism Educational Summit Caregiver and Community Day is a full-day, in-person gathering at the Phoenix Zoo centered on connection, understanding, and meaningful support. Participants hear from compassionate experts and community advocates who share practical tools, lived experiences, and insights to help navigate the questions and challenges that come with caring for a child with autism. The focus is on resources and guidance, along with space to feel seen, build confidence, and learn alongside others who share similar experiences.

Hosted by Maricopa County WIC and Arizona State University at the ASU West Valley Campus, this free, all-ages fall festival takes place mostly indoors with additional shaded space outside. The day features seasonal games and crafts, creative activities for every age, kid friendly trick or treating where costumes are welcome, and music from a DJ. Attendees can enter a giveaway drawing for prizes such as gift cards, baby clothing, toys, electronics, and more. Kids Need To Read will share free books, and community partners will offer information booths and family resources. Highlights include animal encounters presented by Maricopa County Parks and Recreation, first come first served food box distribution, and free hearing and speech screenings from the ASU clinic. Southwest Human Development will provide literacy kits along with a tummy time activity. ADHS PowerMeA2Z will have three month supplies of multivitamins for people who can become pregnant. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be on site. Children are encouraged to dress up, and no WIC participation is required.

This hands-on workshop introduces the basics of crochet for newcomers. Participants practice the chain stitch and single crochet using provided yarn and a crochet hook, then explore the double crochet when ready. The experience includes 1.5 hours of instructor led teaching, all necessary materials, and an introductory crochet guide.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons comes to life by candlelight at Phoenix Art Museum in Whiteman Hall, creating a multisensory setting for an evening of classical music. The Listeso String Quartet performs Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter from The Four Seasons, along with La Follia. The performance runs approximately 60 minutes. Doors open 45 minutes before the concert begins, and there is no entry after the start. Seating is assigned on a first come, first served basis within each zone. The venue is ADA compliant. Attendees must be at least 8 years old, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dates and start times can be selected during the ticketing process. An untimed 5K at Camelback Ranch - Glendale turns the night into a glow-filled celebration. Runners and walkers make their way through blacklight zones where neon color pops, creating a family friendly experience for all ages. The finish transforms into a glow party with a live DJ, color throws, dancing, and plenty of photo opportunities. Suited for families, friend groups, and fans of fun runs. Bilmuri brings the Kinda Hard Tour to The Van Buren. The event is open to ages 13 and up. Guests ages 5 through 12 must be with a parent or legal guardian, and children 4 and under are not permitted. Bags up to 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches are allowed, but backpacks are not. All bags will be searched before entry, and bags that are not clear may be subject to additional screening. This inaugural community run and walk supports Kyrene students and programs, bringing together students, families, staff, and neighbors for a family-friendly, energizing morning focused on wellness, school spirit, and community connection. The event takes place at Kiwanis Park - North Entrance and offers both a 5K and a 1M distance, creating a positive, memorable way to move together and rise for Kyrene. Every participant receives a custom finisher medal and a custom Dri-Fit tech T-shirt. In the 5K, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age group, with divisions for 8 and under, 9 to 10, 11 to 13, 14 to 17, 18 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and over. At the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship, Phillip Martin provides instruction in the art of cutting using a variety of weapons. The training focuses on body mechanics and structure, highlighting the difference between simply striking a target and achieving a true cut.
