Designed for those who already have experience centering and throwing, this intermediate course explores working with larger amounts of clay and building refined two-piece forms. You will practice centering and throwing around 2.5 pounds of clay or more to achieve bold shapes, create two functional planters with your choice of attached or separate drainage saucers, and refine them by trimming drainage holes at the leather-hard stage. Instruction also covers surface texture and colorful glaze techniques to finish your pieces. After firing, choose succulents to plant in your handmade pots and head home with care instructions to help them thrive. This five-session class is for ages 16 and up. Proceeds support services for more than 750 survivors and their families each year, including individualized support, education, Care Transitions, Trabajador(a) de Salud, support groups, advocacy, and care coordination. Funds raised help keep these critical offerings available at no cost to survivors and their families.

Tuttle-Singer is the author of Jerusalem Drawn and Quartered and serves as New Media Editor at Times of Israel. She grew up in Venice Beach with influences ranging from Yiddish lullabies to Civil Rights anthems, and now lives in Jerusalem with her three children, often seeking stories in unexpected places and through conversations with strangers. She regularly addresses audiences across the spectrum, inviting them to grapple with challenging questions and recognizing the courage that takes.
