25 Hour Yin Yoga Foundations Training with Joe Barnett

Soul of Yoga Institute, 701 Garden View Ct, Encinitas · verified Sep 11
    See details

Explore the foundations of Yin Yoga in a 25 hour training that introduces the art of guiding a practice of surrender. Attend live online with small breakout groups or take part in person in Encinitas, CA. The curriculum covers five core Yin archetypes, where they work in the body, and ways to adapt them for different practitioners. Expect interactive study of anatomy, including locating key skeletal landmarks and exploring range of motion. Participants learn to recognize types of sensation such as tension and compression, distinguish muscle and fascia responses, and sense physical and subtle energy. The course also presents the functional approach and the Yin Yoga Sutras of Paul Grilley, along with foundational sequences, how they function, variations, and principles for creating new ones. Yin Yoga invites stillness in postures held for several minutes so the deeper connective tissues can be safely stressed and nourished while the nervous system settles. Because every body and mind expresses unique patterns, the training emphasizes meeting individual differences with clear dialogue, using the system of archetypes and variations developed by Paul Grilley and senior teachers to support student self inquiry. All Yin Foundations programs include brief analysis of each of the five archetypes. This offering dedicates additional time to the Twisted Tree module, focusing on the spine and discs, the sacrum, the outer hip, and the shoulder girdle, with attention to both anatomy and function. Early registration is $450, with a standard rate of $550 thereafter.
