Water is available roughly 10 miles in, followed by another 6 miles to the summit, where a longer rest is planned. The route then descends 6 miles to the tram, takes the tram down, and finishes with a drive back to the trailhead from a drop-off point that is still about 6 miles away. Training and preparation are emphasized, with a focus on building cardio and even using a sauna. Plans may change on the day if extreme heat is a concern. Pack ample water for the first stretch, around 3 to 5 liters, along with electrolytes such as powders, chews, or tablets. Bring enough food for roughly one and a half to two meals, noting that food is available at the tram station during the descent. Some hikers consider L-citrulline or L-arginine, as well as peanuts, for support at higher elevations. Helpful gear includes trekking poles if preferred, shoes with strong grip, and a headlamp for the early morning. Conditions near the peak can be cold and windy, so layers like a windbreaker and a beanie are recommended.
