Instruction is geared toward building confidence and self expression. No prior experience is needed, and comfortable shoes, energy, and a positive attitude are encouraged. Shuffle emerged in Melbourne in the late 1980s from the club and EDM scene, then spread worldwide through festivals and dance communities. It is celebrated for its inclusive spirit and the freedom it gives dancers to move in a way that reflects their individuality. Jasper, a Bay Area native, began dancing in 2009 through a high school hip hop club, later leading the group and discovering a passion for teaching. In 2021, he performed with a team featured on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent, which propelled him into a professional dance career. He has since taught, competed, and performed across the United States and internationally, including in Los Angeles, Seattle, Texas, Paris, and Jamaica. Specializing in shuffle dance and breakdancing, he brings an energetic, encouraging, and community focused approach to every class.

Music in the Park at Stafford Park fills summer evenings with ten weeks of free outdoor concerts, a friendly place to relax with friends and family as a mix of new talent and returning favorites take the stage. The Anthony Arya Band brings a rock-infused blend of indie folk, rock, and pop, driven by Anthony Arya’s expressive vocals and dynamic live show that nods to the Laurel Canyon sound while feeling current. An indie folk artist from the San Francisco Bay Area, he first drew widespread attention at 16 through appearances on NBC’s The Voice. Now 23, he is an award-winning songwriter with four full-length albums, and a steady schedule of weekly performances that carried him through more than 150 shows in 2024 and 2025 at well known West Coast venues and festivals. In February 2026 he released the acoustic single Sugar On Your Shades, with live versions surpassing one million views on social media, and additional tracks are set to roll out ahead of a new album planned by the end of 2026.

Cisco Kid brings the music of WAR to life with a full tribute led by drummer and vocalist Joey "Jam" Flores. This group of Bay Area professionals has collective credits with artists that include The Temptations, Joe Louis Walker, Smash Mouth, Edwin Starr, Al Green, Malo, Sheila E., Pete Escovedo, Third Eye Blind, WAR, and Lee Oskar. The performance celebrates the timeless hits of WAR and the band’s California legacy. Presented as part of Downtown Redwood City’s Music on the Square, the series marks two decades of community concerts and offers fourteen weeks of free Friday night shows featuring rock, reggae, funk, Latin, and soul. Guests can bring a lawn chair or blanket and pick up food from nearby restaurants to enjoy during the music. Glass bottled beverages are not allowed and this policy is enforced.

As part of the series, the screen features F1 (PG-13), a Formula 1 racing drama about a former driver, played by Brad Pitt, who returns to the grid and partners with Damson Idris at APXGP, a fictional team taking on the sport’s powerhouses. Captured during real Grand Prix weekends, the film blends authentic track action with a compelling comeback story. The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and Tobias Menzies. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the feature runs 150 minutes and was released in 2025.

Hosted by the Peninsula Disc Golf Club, the Climate Best Open is a PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament at Emerald Hills Golf Course that also marks the club’s new status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The event highlights nearly twenty years of club history, reaching back to before play began at Emerald Hills. A PDGA-sanctioned competition returns to this course for the first time since 2023. A longtime presence in Georgia’s music community, she has been described by Amy Ray as a satellite member of the Indigo Girls, performed with the Kristian Bush Band, appeared with the Atlanta Symphony alongside Gregg Allman and Chuck Leavell, and toured worldwide. She has even toured with both ZZ Top and Ellen DeGeneres, and the card game Magic The Gathering took part of its name from her song The Gathering. Her catalog spans 17 studio albums, and her recent release, Southern Comfort, leans into guitar-forward Southern rock songwriting with co-writes by Dean Dillon and guest appearances from Buddy Miller, Rick Richards, Will Kimbrough, Charlie Starr, Paul Jackson, and Randall Bramblett. Hosted by the Redwood City Library Foundation, this fifth annual Upscale Pub Crawl takes place during Banned Books Week and highlights a theme announced by the American Library Association and the Banned Books Week Coalition that champions the freedom to read. Check in at the Redwood City Public Library, then visit participating pubs in downtown Redwood City for drink specials and light snacks. Along the route, volunteers and Foundation board members share information about banned books, censorship, and practical ways to help protect the right to read.
Rodeo Tea & Tails
A festive pre-rodeo gathering at the historic Cow Palace blends Western flair with an elegant tea-inspired setting. The evening features delicious food, tea and hard tea cocktails, and both live and silent auctions, creating a lively setting suited to a date night or a fun outing with friends. Proceeds support Children’s Agricultural Education programs that help young people learn about agriculture, livestock, and Western heritage, uniting community, celebration, and purpose in honor of the rodeo spirit.
Gem & Mineral Show
Peninsula Gem & Geology Society and Sequoia Gem & Mineral Society present their joint annual Gem & Mineral Show at the Redwood City Communities Activities Building. Display cases highlight creations from lapidary classes, finds from field trips, jewelry, and other member projects and interests. Dealers will offer handcrafted jewelry, gemstones, fossils, mineral specimens, and collectible pieces for home display. Admission is $6 for adults, and children under 12 are free with an accompanying adult. Each child receives a Treasure Wheel ticket for a free prize.
