At Café Frida Gallery, S.R. Laws offers an intimate acoustic set shaped by the songs many grew up with, balancing familiarity with ideas that are entirely his own. His storytelling draws from touchstones like John Hiatt, Lou Reed, Steve Earle, Neil Finn, and Ron Sexsmith. Raised in Northern California, he fell in love with music while digging through stacks of 45s salvaged from his father’s trash route, discovering hidden gems and dropping the needle to explore new sounds. He later headed to Texas with just a couple of suitcases and a small nest egg to learn in Austin’s bustling live music scene, honing his craft at open mics and songwriter nights. Now based in Sonoma County and writing and singing for his original rock band, The Heartsleeves, he continues to carry his songs from place to place, sharing them person to person. Expect unhurried Americana at a comfortable mid tempo, first person narratives set to a steady groove, and a clear baritone that feels easy on the ears...a slow-blooming energy that can make it hard to leave after just one tune.

    Paul Spring and more

Little Saint, 25 North St, Healdsburg
    See details

Featuring Paul Spring, Meernaa, and Steven van Betten. Paul Spring is a New York City songwriter and guitarist who has issued seven albums in five years, moving from classical and electronic projects to a guitar-centered folk sound. His 2021 release of J.S. Bach 12 String Transcriptions led to a two-year weekly residency at Manhattan’s Burp Castle, and in 2024 Aquarium Drunkard described River Flows Two Ways as both distinctive and a welcoming entry point to his catalog. Performing as Meernaa, Los Angeles musician Carly Bond weaves R&B, jazz, psychedelic rock, folk, art rock, and pop into a fluid, genre-blending style that explores growth, introspection, and emotional change. The debut album Heart Hunger arrived in June 2019, shaped by personal experiences and family history. Songwriter Steven van Betten lives in Los Angeles and writes with a storyteller’s focus, shifting from vistas of the American West to the intimacy of human relationships while revealing the wonder in everyday moments. Raised in Blue Diamond, Nevada, a small desert community, his music reflects time spent playing guitar in rocky canyons, pausing to climb sandstone and search for swimming holes under the heat of the sun.

HopMonk Tavern Sebastopol, 230 Petaluma Ave, Sebastopol
    See details

Presented by KC Turner, this outdoor concert at HopMonk Sebastopol features Dragon Smoke with Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell, Stanton Moore, and Robert Mercurio, with Tracorum also on the bill. Born in 2003 out of a New Orleans Jazz Fest tradition of bringing together players who do not usually share a stage, the band took shape during an intimate night at the Dragon’s Den bar, which inspired the name. Their sound blends Lindell’s soulfulness, Neville’s funk and R&B roots, and the unmistakable groove of the Galactic rhythm section. They have returned to Jazz Fest every year since, and with each member leading other projects, chances to see them together outside New Orleans are uncommon. The performance takes place in the tented outdoor venue to keep the audience warm and dry. It is mostly a standing show and open to all ages. Children must have their own ticket and babies in arms are not permitted. Parking is free with ample space. Pets, coolers, backpacks, outside food, and umbrellas are not allowed.
