    Steampunk Soirée

Lord Baltimore Hotel, Baltimore · verified Sep 27
    See details

Two worlds collide as the Steampunk Soirée melds with Nevermore for a night of gothic elegance and clockwork imagination at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, a setting that has been quietly perfecting its eerie charm since 1928. This gathering tips its hat to Edgar Allan Poe, whose mysterious passing in Baltimore still haunts the city. The evening opens with a candlelit social where curious minds and kindred spirits can mingle. Expect a private bar and a marketplace of vendors offering the unusual, the arcane, and the beautifully strange, all under an ambiance that hints at unseen listeners just beyond the glow of the lamps. Paranormalist and mentalist Vince Wilson presents an evening of gothic magic that straddles the line between the impossible and the merely unexplained, drawing on twenty-five years of experience. The Dust Bowl Faeries, an accordion-driven ensemble from New York’s Hudson Valley with a dark cabaret flair and a touch of woodland witchery, deliver a live music murder mystery. Later, Vince Wilson leads a séance seeking contact with Edgar Allan Poe and Harry Houdini, acknowledging that any reply from beyond remains between the guests and the veil. Additional performers and surprises will be revealed. VIP ticket holders receive early entry, first choice of seats, and a few undisclosed perks.

Temu and Shein Fashion Show on the Farm

Patriot Acres Farm Brewery, 1621 Millington Rd, Sudlersville · verified Sep 27
    See details

A tongue-in-cheek runway celebrates the highs and lows of online shopping with a debut Temu and Shein fashion show that spotlights both perfect finds and the not-so-accurate arrivals. Expect categories like Best Outfit Under $50, Best Outfit Under $75, Under $20 Challenge, Looked Better Online, Best Accessories, and Most Unique. Participants take the PAFB stage while judges and the crowd weigh in on everything from pitch-perfect styling to looks that missed the mark. Event guidelines keep things playful and fair. Except for the Best Accessories category, everything visible should be from Temu or Shein, and a website photo or receipt is requested, especially in the budget-focused entries. Outfits should remain generally family friendly to keep the laughs coming. There is plenty of time to source a look, and those cautious about ordering can consider using a prepaid card. The audience gets in on the action with Price Is Right style guessing games and voting for Crowd Favorite. The brewery will be pouring beer, hard cider, and hard soda on tap, and food will be available, with the food truck to be announced. An MC with witty commentary and confident stage presence is also being sought. Be ready for a first edition that sets the tone, with imitators likely to follow in 30 to 60 business days.

    Hana Stretton and more

The Perch Music & Arts Community, 2321 Emerald St, Philadelphia · verified Oct 2
    See details

Co-presented with Clavius Productions, this program at The Perch Music & Arts Community in Philadelphia features performances by Hana Stretton, Jana Horn, and Danielle Nia. British and Australian artist Hana Stretton is a composer, singer, and producer recognized for spacious, warmly textured recordings. Her debut album, Soon, drew dedicated listeners around the world, then Phil Elverum reissued it on his own label the following year and publicly praised its quietly flourishing spirit. Her forthcoming album, tiarn, shifts the focus from inland terrain to the Pacific, weaving in subtle classical and electronic elements, with vinyl editions planned through PW Elverum & Sun in North America, brierfield flood press in Australia, and Lima Limo in Europe and the UK. Jana Horn is a writer and musician from Texas now based in Brooklyn. After the reissue of her debut, Optimism, she released two full-length albums on No Quarter. Her self-titled record, made at Sonic Ranch in West Texas, traces her move from Charlottesville, where she was in the University of Virginia’s Creative Writing MFA, to New York City. The New Yorker has noted kinship in her music with figures such as Young Marble Giants, Syd Barrett, and Broadcast, and she received the Halifax Ranch Prize in 2026 for her story “The Woman,” forthcoming in American Short Fiction. Philadelphia-based composer and performer Danielle Nia delves into electronic and experimental sound, drawing on electronic music, jazz, classical traditions, global styles, and chiptunes. Her work blends modular and keyboard synthesis with composition, mallet percussion, improvisation, computer programming, and circuit bending to shape a distinctive meeting of technology and artistry. Accessibility note: the venue has a street level entrance, but there are two steps to the restroom.

Elkton Music Hall, 109 W Main St, Elkton · verified Sep 27
    See details

Marshall Crenshaw brings a career’s worth of songs and stories, shaped by years of writing, recording, and touring. Born in Detroit and drawn to the guitar from a young age, he broke through in 1978 portraying John Lennon in Beatlemania, first as an understudy in New York, then with the West Coast cast and the national tour. After leaving the production in early 1980, he moved to New York City, where the vibrant rock scene inspired him to form a trio with his brother Robert on drums and Chris Donato on bass. Not long after, a connection with Alan Betrock led to his debut single, “Something’s Gonna Happen,” on Shake Records, while Robert Gordon released his version of Crenshaw’s “Someday, Someway” on RCA. Both tracks earned major airplay on New York’s WNEW-FM and quickly raised the trio’s local profile. Since then he has built a four-decade run marked by 13 albums, appearances on film and television including portraying Buddy Holly in La Bamba, and thousands of concerts. His current touring band, assembled in 2022, features Fernando Perdomo on guitar, a multi-instrumentalist and producer, Derrick Anderson on bass, also a singer-songwriter, and drummer Mark Ortmann, a founder of the Bottle Rockets. America 250: Unlocked is back from the National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation with a focus on the nation’s 250th anniversary, offering monthly access inside different pieces of rail heritage. As part of this series, the B&O No. 147 "Thatcher Perkins" is opened in recognition of Veteran’s Day, providing a close look at a notable ten wheel locomotive introduced in 1863. Designed by Thatcher Perkins, the railroad’s Master of Machinery, this engine was among eleven powerful ten wheelers built to move heavy passenger trains across the steep Allegheny terrain. It began service on military duty for the Union Army, carrying troops and supplies through the Potomac River Valley from 1863 to 1865. In the decades after the Civil War it worked on both passenger and freight trains. Retired in the early 1890s, the locomotive went on to be showcased at major public events, including the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and the 1927 Fair of the Iron Horse. The series also offers interior access to other collection highlights, including the newly restored B&O No. 3316 "Washington" Observation Tavern Car, and American Freedom Train No. 1 will be opened twice.
