Friends, families, neighbors, and fellow veterans gather for friendly competition, a welcoming local vibe, and easygoing midweek fun. Expect bingo rounds throughout the night and the excitement of a 50/50, with plenty of opportunities to win while enjoying community time.

Steak Night brings the community together at Arrant-Smith Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4127, also known as The Friendly Post, in Homestead. Enjoy a steak dinner while catching up with friends and meeting new people in an easygoing setting. Veterans, families, and neighbors from the Upper Keys and across South Florida gather for conversation, camaraderie, and a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates community spirit.

Enjoy an evening of stargazing on the Deering Estate front lawn, where the moon and night sky take center stage. Bring binoculars or a telescope, along with a picnic, chairs, and blankets, for a relaxed outdoor gathering with family and friends. Picnic tables in the Royal Palm Grove are available on a first come, first served basis. Plan for low light by packing a battery powered lantern or flashlight, since open flames and candles are not allowed. Bay breezes are typical, yet insects may still be present, so consider long sleeves, long pants, and insect repellent. The museums will not be open during this program. Admission is $10 for nonmembers and $5 for Deering Estate Foundation members, and tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Guided by the belief that breaking silence can open the door to healing, this community gathering centers a men’s panel focused on grief, gun violence, loss, and the path toward restoration. Created for men, families, and community members who have lost loved ones or faced trauma and other painful life experiences, it offers a supportive place to speak openly, listen with compassion, and find strength together. Conversations emphasize honesty, resilience, faith, and practical support so no one has to carry grief alone. Set out from the Deering Estate on a four-hour boat tour that explores Biscayne National Park with a Biscayne National Park Ranger as your guide. Cruise across Biscayne Bay to see the Cape Florida, Fowey Rocks, and Boca Chita lighthouses while hearing the history that surrounds these landmarks. Glide past Stiltsville and continue to Boca Chita Key for an up-close look at the iconic Boca Chita Lighthouse, with the chance to climb to the top for sweeping views of the bay. Wildlife sightings are possible, including dolphins, sea turtles, and shore birds. Tickets are $90 per person plus tax and processing fees for members and non-members. Advance reservations are required, and space is limited. Your ticket includes general admission to the Estate during regular hours on the same day as your cruise. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Check in at the Main Gate, then check in again when boarding. Tours leave on schedule, and late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Weather and water conditions are monitored in advance, and trips may be canceled and rescheduled if conditions require. This tour is presented through a partnership among Biscayne National Park, the Florida National Parks Association, Deering Estate, and the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.

Discover the rich butterfly life of Deering Estate on a guided walk through diverse habitats. Participants search for rare species such as the Ruddy Daggerwing, Dina Yellow, and Atala, along with nearly 40 other butterflies found onsite. The route highlights favorite spots around the Estate. Guests are encouraged to record plant and wildlife sightings with the iNaturalist app, available on Google Play and the App Store. Admission is $18 for adults ages 15 and up and $10 for youth ages 4 to 14, and Deering Estate Foundation Members receive free entry. General admission can be purchased onsite the day you arrive. All guests, including members, must sign up at the Main Gate before the tour to secure a spot, and capacity is very limited with spaces filled on a first come, first served basis.

Settle in for an evening of skywatching at Fruit & Spice Park as the Harvest Moon rises, with a warming bonfire close by. Participants are welcome to bring telescopes to take in clear views of the stars away from city glow. S'more kits and a variety of drinks will be offered while supplies last. Feel free to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and small coolers. Large coolers and pets are not permitted.
