An open meeting of the S.O.S. Al-Anon Family Group offers a confidential, cost-free setting for people whose lives are affected by someone else’s drinking. Participants share experiences to support one another, ease isolation, and learn healthier ways to respond to the impact of alcoholism on families and friends. This fellowship is for relatives and friends rather than the person with the drinking problem, and it is separate from Alcoholics Anonymous. Observers are also welcome, including professionals, medical staff, students, reporters, and others interested in how alcohol use affects loved ones. Newcomers are welcome. The meeting is held at the Alachua Club in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. The group is AFG #2564 in North Florida District 3, and the location is accessible to people with disabilities.
