    Charlie Mars

    Eddie's Attic, 515 N McDonough St, Decatur · verified Jul 31
    See details

Charlie Mars brings a heartfelt performance to Eddie's Attic, shaped by Mississippi roots and a recent life shift to a quiet gravel road in Yalobusha County. After moving to the country for a 130-pound Cane Corso from Brazil purchased with cryptocurrency, he put away the television, learned to grow his own vegetables, met the neighbors, and began writing about the world just outside his door. Raised on 80s pop alongside the timeless songwriting of artists like Neil Young and Jackson Browne, he formed his first band in high school and studied English at SMU, building a craft that values clear, thoughtful storytelling. His songs refuse to sit in a single box, drawing from a less commercial strain of country, the improvisational spirit of jam bands, alt-country, and the spacious atmospheres associated with Daniel Lanois. Across seven studio albums, plus EPs and singles released over two decades, he has pursued honest self-reflection, confronting pride, fear, cynicism, and doubt in the search for real happiness. He has shared the stage with REM, KT Tunstall, and Steve Earle, and his work has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, and American Songwriter. Onstage, he aims to speak for the people and the culture that made him, bringing that perspective to this show at Eddie's Attic.
