Celebrate a week dedicated to painting outdoors across Thomasville, Ocklocknee, and Boston, Georgia, with seven featured artists leading mini lessons and demonstrations. Participants can explore wildlife scenes, farm life, and picturesque vistas in Ocklocknee, with on-site guidance from Craig Reynolds and Steven Walker, and a catered welcome dinner accompanied by music from the Tallahassee Uke Jammers. The second day in Boston offers painting at Glen Iris Farm, Danny’s Farm, or downtown, plus mini lessons by Alex Foltz, Chris Flagg, Natalia Andreeva, and Phil Sandusky. A get-together at The Silo features a free portrait demonstration by Alex Foltz. In Thomasville, artists gather at The Covey Nest and branch out to favorite downtown spots, with instruction from Paul Ladnier, Alex Foltz, and Craig Reynolds. Artwork begins to be displayed for judging at The Covey Nest, followed by an artist reception where first, second, and third place are announced. The finale is a timed two hour paint out around Thomasville, judged by the featured artists, with ribbons and prizes for the top three. Steven Walker also presents a free demonstration at The Covey Nest. Throughout the week there are many chances to learn, create, and prepare for a two day show that offers the opportunity to sell work made during the event. Prize money exceeds $3,000. Registration is $100 for nonmembers and $80 for members, with the option to become a member at sign up to save $20. All mini lessons are $50 each. A 180-mile gravel bikepacking ultra welcomes riders to the Red Hills of middle southern Georgia, tracing a loop that begins and ends at Paradise Park in Thomasville. Expect miles of red clay and an immersive journey through the region’s agricultural landscape. A Grand Depart is available, and participants can approach the route as a race or take it at party pace. This is a self-supported challenge with no SAG stops or wagons. Registered riders receive the route through an RWGPS event link that includes waypoints for suggested resupply and potential camps, and refunds are not available after the route details are shared. A group camp is planned at Reed Bingham State Park with snacks and beverages. All who ride receive a commemorative patch. Tracking is provided by Trackleaders, with the option to use a personal device or rent one. Self-supported ultra racing rules apply.
