Hillery leads a monthly oil painting lesson that guides participants through each stage of creating a personal piece of art. Drawing from her book The Grassroots Guide to Saving What Matters: Historic Preservation for Everyday People, she shares practical ways individuals can protect meaningful buildings and sites in their own communities. The program features a conversation with the author, an audience Q&A, and a book signing, followed by a guided walk that showcases preservation projects on the main grounds with insights from Thomasville Landmarks and other local partners. Copies of the featured book will be available for $12.95. Admission is $10, nonrefundable, and tickets must be purchased in advance.
